No more Adobe Flash on Android

Talk about lousy timing.

My wife came home today with a Samsung Galaxy Tablet. I don't know anything about the Android operating system but I just found out that as of the 14th you can no longer get Adobe Flash Player for Android.

She is going to have to live without some stuff she could have had if she got the tablet a couple days earlier. Unless someone has a solution.

Don't worry. Download the .apk file that is floating around everywhere on the internet, go into your security settings, and allow the installation of apps from unknown sources. Then just copy the .apk file to your device and use your favorite file manager app to tap on the file and install it. Done. You will be able to use Flash from your stock browser, but not from Chrome. I am running flash just fine on both my ICS and Jellybean devices. If you can't find the .apk file online, I can email one to you.

Adobe says there will be no more new versions of Flash Player for Linux but they are suppose to keep making security updates for Flash Player for Linux. I'm not sure how long that will last. They haven't released any security updates since the last version update for Linux.

Flash needs to die a horrible death. I can't see why Adobe is speeding that up with dropping it on mobile (arguably dropping ot on linux won't affect enough people to matter).

The bad thing is that alot of websites still use it very heavily right now, but they are going to have to change that in the near future.

Plus, Id be willing to bet that most of the usuage of flash these days are those annoying ads everywhere.

I have never had problems with Flash, as an end-user. And for as long as there are websites that use it, I want to have the option as well.

I agree Flash needs to go away. It is full of bugs, memory leaks , explorations etc. adobe has no incentive to fix it as they give it away. All the new adobe tools are moving to MP4 so they are in the process of dumping it

Being a big part of killing flash is something we should all thank Apple for, unless you hold Adobe stock I guess.
