Man, you are rough on boots. I thought I was bad and had a lot of foot beats, but my boots last me and the only reason I throw them out is due to worn out soles.

Try working inside the fence sometime; on your feet all shift on concrete, all day every day!

Which translates to knee wear and tear. I am feeling it more in my right knee, as my left knee continues to need it's occasional NSAID.

Getting old sucks.

Yeah, I had knee problems before I even started in this business, and now am wondering if I have a heel spur on top of it. I wear a sleeve-time knee support most of the time at work now.

I work as a security contractor for a local major military contractor. I do just about everything security related. I will one day be walking patrols of facilities and the next be manning a gate making sure only authorized people are entering the premises.

It pays the bills until I leave for the police academy in fall 2013 after finishing my degree June of 2013

AKA I'm a glorified rent-a-cop with a clearance and better pay. Standing for twelve hours a day teaches you just how important good footwear is.

Thats why I apply this about 3 or 4 times a year:

Its like black petroleum jelly, but works GREAT! Rub it on the leather and let it sit a while then wipe off the excess. It keeps the leather moisturized and the oil helps keep salt from drying out the leather. I have had the same pair of Recon's for about 6 years now and the only wear they show is scuffs and rubs from daily patrol wear. Only thing I do to the boots is use this treatment, kiwi polish and replace the soles about every 18 months or so.

Thinking of that....fall is here and I think today is a good day to apply some to my boots before winter hits.

Whelp, I decided to check out Red Wing Boots and I have to say they make a top quality product. The customer service was beyond top notch and the guy knew exactly what I was looking for and instead of bringing fifty boxes he brought two and let me choose which I thought felt better.

Best part is that I can bring them in twice a month for a spit shine and waterproofing for the life of the boot! Which here in Michigan means the world since Road Salt rapes leather boots!

These are the Bates Ultra Lights I picked up 3 months ago to replace the Oakleys. My feet kill me and they already show drastic sole wear and the heel cup inside the shoe is falling apart and digs into my ankle.

I'm planning on biting the bullet and getting Danners. I'm incredibly hard on my boots and I want a pair that won't fail me or make my feet ache.
Last week I just tried putting a bead of Gorilla Glue around that bottom seam that always seperates, before it starts to seperate. I'll let you know how it holds up. [btw, the Gorilla glue dries clear]

Gorilla glue likely won't work. It is a slightly modified carpenter's glue.

Good luck to ya mate, with the amount of use my boots get I just find it easier to replace them.

Getting ready to find another pair of boots for the year. I wonder if I should check into Thorogoods. If they are as good as Danners as one mentioned it might be worth it.

I'm running a pair of thorogood troopers and they're awesome so far. Have a nice shine as well.

I went to the store and got into their catalog today. Ordered a pair of Thorogoods of some type, with all the bells and whistles. I hope they fit my misshapen feet.
