If you consider that they go for $1,200 new, it's a good price.
If you consider that you could get a new Colt for $900, you might think why would you ever buy a Kimber?

Hmm, I was thinking 'why would I buy the Colt if I could get the Kimber for less?"
But I would be darned careful about the round count on the Kimber and expect ot put new springs in it, just on GPs.

Because after two dud Colt 1911's I'd be willing to try something that is put together correctly?

Is the seller willing to let you shoot it first? From what I have seen, those who own Kimber's that function well would rather part with their first born son.
If he lets you put at least 50 rounds through it, got for it. If he won't let you, I would say you might be better off looking elsewhere.

I wanted one for a long while until a buddy and his Dad bought three new ones (several years ago)... Not any of the three could get though 5 mags a piece without malfunctioning... I've yet to have another purchasing tendancy for them..

Sounds like a good deal to me. I'd definitely see if he'll let you shoot it first if possible. I've had good luck with Kimber.

In my experience with Kimber they are pretty good, but their tolerances are WAY to tight. It takes about 1000 rounds to break one it so it runs reliable.
Just not having to spend as much money on its break in time sounds like a deal to me.

I agree as stated above. If he lets you put a box or if it were me 2 through it then I would get it.

Kimber seems to be a hit or miss IMO. I have seen friends run thousands of roundswith no issues and on the other hand I have seen friends have quite a fewissues. (especially feeding issues)

Sounds like you could get all or most of your money back in a resale if you don't like it.
I would trust your gut on this.

Nephew had one he gave up on. It absolutly would not run. Too much money for something not reliable.

It sounds like a great deal on one of the only Kimber's I'd ever consider owning after a few bad experiences I had with them in the past.
I'd take it at that price.

It would be a great deal if its a good shooter. If its a friend then I'd say you will know what your getting. If its a gun store or a listing on a forum, I would ask all of the right questions. If you can take it out for a run before you buy, all the better. My Kimbers have never given me any issue but I have read a lot of post in the past year or two about quality. Bad shooters typically find themselves on the resale market. I'm always careful when considering a used gun.

I thought the same thing.
It's been years since I even stopped at the Colt tables at the gun shows. Man, Colt made some trash in years past.
I have 4 Kimbers. Had 5 but last week I sold one at a low price to a young fellow to help him out.
I'm already wanting to replace it.

I'm still always AMAZED when I see that. I had a warrior. Sold it then bought a TLE. Both of which ran like absolute garbage until about 1000 rounds down range. Like I said before, they are good 1911's but fresh out of the box they are just way to tight and need that high round break in. I guess some folks are just lucky.

It mostly depends with Kimber. If it runs bad cycling issues after a good amount of rounds it's the springs. Or the slide lock. Had a number of friends send theirs in and it came back with a filed down "lip" on the slide lock. Then things were fine. And obviously everyone knows the 1911's Achilles Heal is the magazine.

Colt still make 1911?
J/K. I'm not qualify to judge Colt vs Kimber. But that sounds like a great price for Kimber warrior. As long it's not beat to hell, I would jump on that deal.

That is a good price. If it runs well, then that will have been an excellent deal, especially with the magazines.

Kimber has horrible customer service. It is never their gun that is the problem, it is you.
