S&W 64-3 3" for sale
locally and he's asking $475.00.
90% condition, but he may just being conservative.
Has pachy grips, no box, gun only.
I have never seen one in these parts and it being a 3", I suspect they're pretty hard to come by.
Is $475 reasonable if in very good condition?

I don't know about your region, and that can have a big effect, but that would be over $100 too high around here for one. They are not "common" but I wouldn't call them "rare" enough to justify such a price.

Locale does make a difference.
But I did see one on Auctionarms go for 580.00, but it was like new condition, but no box.

I agree that while not common the price is a bit high. I'd need it to be around $400 assuming I really wanted it for me to be able to break open the wallet. I see them from time to time and they are usually scratched up but in decent condition running around $350.

Considering it's a 3" K frame and the rarity of it, I'd be all over it like a hobo on a ham sandwich if you REALLY want it and like revolvers.
If revolvers are not really your thing and you really are not looking for one, I'd look for a 3" # 686 instead (technically a stronger/better gun for .357) but nowhere near as rare.
...........and let me justify what I say when I mean "rare" before someone corrects me, 3" K frames are not really "rare" as far as they did not make many, but they ARE highly desirable by revolver types. THAT usually drives the price and demand up for them when they come up, as they are NOT made anymore.
As I like K frames, I'd do it if it were me. That said, if I just wanted a revolver period, I'd find a 686 instead.

All good points.
I checked it out today and it was a bit rough, so I passed.
I do have a 686-3 4"but it's a bit heavy for carry.
