Glock XS Big Dot sights

I have a incoming gen 4 G22. I'm going to get night sights, but always used the regular ones.
What's peoples opinions of the XS big dot sights? I never used them, but I hear they are accurate & fast to use.

I have them on my G19 and love them. I am very accurate with them. I can get on target much faster than traditional 3 dots.

I just picked up a EMP 9mm (trijicon night sights) and went to the range and while I was accurate with it, I noticed it took longer to get on target and more time in between shots to make sure my accuracy didn't suffer. Needless to say, I have a set of XS Big Dots on the way for my EMP now.

There have been several long threads on these sights in the very recent past. Just search.

In short.... great SD sights for close distances, like 7 yards maybe.
For a range/competition gun? I've been shooting competitions for 3+ years and never seen anyone use them. The large front dot eliminates fine tuning for accuracy at distance.

If it's a carry (or HD) gun, you'll be fine. Anything else.... probably not.

I've been shooting matches for 7 years. Every time I see someone try them they go back to something else. They are a gimmicky technical solution for a training problem.

Do this: Close your eyes and draw your gun. At full extension, open your eyes. The sights should be lined up with each other (not necessarily on target, but lined up properly). If they arent, move your grip around until they are. repeat. After less than a half an hour you should be able to hit sight alignment almost every time.

When you have THAT fundamental nailed, you'll find the need for XS sights to be a moot point.

I guess I've Had the XS sights on my 26 & 27 for almost a year, I shoot them weekly...

I was getting fustrated because I could not reliabily hold "center" with the shallow rear "v" sight. I'm not talking a wide variation - within the 10 ring of the standard combat target.

I reinstalled the OEM Glock sight and found that eliminated the left-right drift nicely. Oddly enough this did not affect elevation. I still like the front big dot - just not the rear!

I disagree. I shot IPSC for three years and before I retired from the Navy, I consistently shot expert, with standard three dot sights.

I like the XS sights and feel that I am faster getting on target with them and my groups are still the same size as when I shoot with standard three dots.

For 25 yd shots, I admit they aren't ideal, but from 15 yds and in, I am more accurate with them.

Unfortunately your logic is flawed if you have bad eyes like I do.
I bought a set to try after searching around. I'll see how they are for me.
The point was I was getting night sights anyway, so I was wondering how these were.
I rarely use the sights in my CC/SD situations I'm likely to face. I'm not much into target shooting at distance.

I've got a G27 that came NIB with two color Ameriglo I-Dot Pros.
They are great sights.
But I'm a Close Quarters Combat guy.
Never heard of armed robbery or car jacking a 25 yards.
So I've switched most of my autos to Big Dots.
Close up fast target acquisition is outstanding.

Be advised they are not target sights - IMHO.
There is a standard dot version that's better suited for longer ranges.

There are lots of options and designs available.
And sights, like triggers, are a personal choice.

Rent or borrow guns with the sights you're interested in if you can.

For compact and sub-compact carry guns, the XS Big Dots are great. I have them on my G36 and I feel very confident with them. But for a full-size gun, like a G22, which will most likely be a range and home defense gun, I would recommend a good set of three-dot tritium night sights.

They gave me a headache when I was looking at them at night. Something about having both eyes open on those sights messed with my eyes.

Great sights IMO also, have them on my EDC G30SF ... Barth you want to get rid of them I dot Pro sights?? I could use a new set for either my 23 or 27... LOL

XS Big Dots are better than standard Glock sights.
Their great in the dark.
Excellent for more accurate point shooting, as they line up out of your periferial vision, without looking directly at them.
But, I would get the XS small dot, with tritium.
Would be better all around, for more accurate shooting in daylight or under fluorescent lights.

The Ameriglo I Dot Pro's look similar and might be better.
More to line up on.

I offer a Big Dot variation I have worked up out of spare parts: Big Dot FRONT night sight teamed with a Ghost Ring REAR night sight. I found that combination to be more instinctive aiming than with the shallow-V of the Big Dot REAR sight.

I like the XS Big Dot sights for quick sight acquisition & close range shooting, have them on subcompact Glock.

Ok I installed & used them. Wow that was 1 easy install. Didn't run into any trouble. These sights are pretty good at close range. However I do see the issues further out. Nothing I can't get used to with some rds downrange though. It is a carry gun.

have them on all my guns 17, 19, 30, rem 870, s&w 637, AR, and my duty pistol 21SF. I have shot a variety of sights including mepros, trij, and warren's. XS excel at what they are designed for fast combat shooting. They are amazing when shooting moving targets. Let me know if you have any other questions. For a SD/HD gun I wouldn't even consider anything else...

when outside of 15 yds make sure to shoot off the top of the dot instead of the middle like close in. I didn't know this the first few times i shot XS and hated them. Now i can hit poppers out to 100 w/o problem

they aren't made for target shooting... that'd be like saying don't buy a ferrari because they suck at off-roading.

I have had XS Big Dot's on all 5 of my Glocks for years. Up to a year ago, I shot 3 gun matches for about 10 years, using the Big Dot's for the last 6 or 7. Never had a hitting issue, even when shooting steel out to 80 yards. They work well for me.

Same with myself. I don't close an eye like some shooters I just see the sights and fire. I'm looking for combat accuracy

I have eight sets of night sights. Six sets of Trijicon 3 dot sights, one XS big dot and one XS small(?) dot. I'll trade anyone willing a pair of my Trijicons for your XS.
