How many rounds do you carry?
I usually carry a G23. As most of you know, that gives me 13 +1 rounds of 40. I was just curious as to how many rounds/mags others feel comfortable carrying and why.

15 in the gun, sometimes 28 more on the hip, and always 34 in the truck. All Underwood 10MM.

G26 with 10+1. Almost always have a spare mag and all my mags outside of the G26's 10 rounder are G17 mags so another 16 rounds as I download my spares by 1 so they seat super easy (just in case I actually do wind up doing a speed reload with my life or others on the line - Sux but I'll sacrifice that 1 round in a high cap mag to make sure it goes right). 27rnds total.

My normal practice is whatever is in the pistol. There are times when I'll carry a spare magazine but since I lead a staid and routine lifestyle I don't like to carry more devices or paraphernalia than necessary.
The best reason I've seen for carrying a spare mag for normal self-defense scenarios is the malfunction factor. I rigorously test my pistol/ammo choices for reliability whenever I go to the range for this reason, putting the pistol/ammo through several rapid fire exercises.
I know this isn't an absolute guarantee that my chosen pistol/ammo won't malfunction but the successive tests that bear out reliability do provide a measure of confidence for someone with my staid lifestyle.
The best results I've found to date is to select a pistol with a solid reputation for quality/reliability and stick with a major American ammo manufacturer.

In the summer I sometimes carry a jframe with a speed strip in my pocket.

G23 one in the pipe and 13 in the mag. 1 spare mag for 27.
I still will carry my 1911 once in a while. 8+1 and two extra mags. 25 rounds total.

13+1 in the G23. I understand the possibility of malfunctions, but I shoot regularly, and trust what I carry. If I'm ever in a situation, and cant get it done in 14 rounds, doubt 27, or even 40 would help me much more...

Usually 10 in the g26 or 15 in the g19 depending on what I'm carrying that day. And a spare mag or two.

I like to carry an extra mag or 2, not so much because I might need all that ammo, but because it helps balance out the weight of the gun!

Same here, except the spare mag is in a DSG Arms mag pouch at the 9 o'clock position on my hip.

+1. As a civilian CCWer I've never seen much of a reason to carry a spare mag with a.40cal or bigger that held more than 10 rounds. But I sometimes do carry a spare mag but not very often.
When I carry my PF-9 I will carry a spare mag of 115gr JHPs but that's because I'm not a 9mm fan and do not have much faith in the stopping power of a 9mm especially in a pocket pistol.
In combat you can never have too much ammo as long as you can carry it!
