Who here has been on the news

Recently I assisted a brave officer doing something. I got put on the news along with even doing an interview. It was way too much attention for me. Anyone else get involved in something that you got put on the news for?

Front page of the local paper, if that counts. But, not a cop. Just working with y'all.

I've given news interviews years ago, but we rarely do it now since we moved up in the world with having our very own public information officer. A civilian, we brief her and she does all of the interviews.

One time my partner and I were on bike patrol when we rode up on a news crew in front of a controversial strip club. The babe news chick and her cameraman started taping me after I told her I didn't want to give an official interview. During the time I was giving my .02 on the issue, I noticed her mic and the cameraman slowly raising the camera. I knew what they were doing, but since I gave a good response, I had no problems with the footage being broadcasted.

I've been in the newspapers multiple times. I've been on the TV news a few times, but usually just as a guy being recorded doing something - never interviewed.

I have 2 chase videos on TruTV and I've hung out with Sheriff John Bunnell in a bar.

Multiple times when I worked EMS, not since I moved to LE. Doesn't hurt my feelings a bit either.

I hate that show. I really hate that show. My wife has forbidden me to watch it, because I pretty much yell at the TV through an entire episode.

We hosted an Irish child (from Belfast) the first year of the Irish Children's Summer Program, in Columbia, SC. Equal numbers of Protestant and Catholic children came to the US for the summer, and we brought them together at a few social events, swim parties, etc., to get to know each other on a casual basis, without "brands". Local TV covered the airport departure of the kids, saying goodbye to the host families.
I was not interviewed though.

I cop a squat on the local rag whenever I can. They crap on us at every opportunity, so I return the favor.

I was a few years ago, but for firefighting not LE. The news decided to do some story about hoarding and somehow got wind of a fire we had back in 2002 where we saved the homeowner and his house was one big mound of hoarded crap. So they interviewed us about what it was like to fight a fire in such a terrible environment..

I was in the news a few times as a police officer, but never interviewed. As a soldier I was on camera the last time I returned from Afghanistan, but not interviewed. As a lawyer I have been on plenty because the cases I'm involved in are often newsworthy criminal things.

Local papers a few times by name... for various things, interviewed for print a few times, but nothing major, just clarification of minor issues like what it means or something... no TV yet, that I know of, but seen the cameras a few times and I tried to duck as best as I can when that thing swings around.

In print once for providing in-custody death statistics following an inmate death in another jurisdiction, and have written most of the department's press releases. Nothing on camera though, and I am just fine with that.
