Sig bug bite

I was just going in there to look and see what was new. Just looking not buying. You know how that went! Mid nineties Sig P220 two tone no rail and nite sights grooved trigger and Hogue grips. It was begging me to take it home. Once I picked it up and felt the nice balance and great ergos, I know I was in trouble. I think it has a very low round count but I do not know the history of the gun. You P220 guys can jump in and tell me if it all looks good. It sure has a nice trigger and just feels great in my hand. Bac 1023 will notice there's no rail on this one. LOL!

Your picture shows the top of the rails, but I can't see the inside of the rails. Is there any wear through the anodizing? The barrel doesn't appear to have typical ring wear marks on top and the back end of the barrel.....the lockup end doesn't show any wear. I'd say you've got yourself a low round pistol.

Sigs are my favorite pistols.....I own two P220's, one a railed Carry model and the other a Gen 2, SAS Carry.

Be sure to keep the rails well lubricated.... If you're new to Sigs, they require more lubrication than Glocks. Go over to the Sig Forum and you'll see a sticky showing a recommended lubribcation plan for Sig pistols. Good luck with the P220, you're going to love it.

M, I am not new to Sigs as I have several with sloppy wet oiled rails. LOL. The wear on the underside is barely there and not worn through the anodizing so I think its pretty low count. Very clean gun and I can't wait to shoot it.

Congratulations on picking up a fine pistol that will last you a lifetime!
I bought mine new in 1998.
Still have it today.
I got a a SRT kit from TopGunSupply
and a professional trigger job.
The DA is a glassy 8.5 lbs.

Nice pistol, I am looking hard at purchasing a Sig 220. If my local gunshop gets a nice redbox 220 with an SRT trigger it is mine.

My circa 1988 P220 also has the Hogue rubber grip on it. I need to find the original plastic grips and put them back on. I've grown to hate rubber grips. It had been worked over by Mark T. Graham of Arizona Response Systems. Smoother DA and lighter SA with the METACOLIII finish. The other P220 is a half-breed (half German/half American) two tone that now wears the Nill grips.

Nice, I really like the looks of the last one with the wood grips. How wide is the grip with the woodies. The Hogues are 1.3" measured about half way down the grip.

Both of the Hogue and the Nill have about the same feel in my hand. A bit thicker than the original plastic panels but still plenty thin.

Sigs

Nice P220! It must have been SIG Friday in many parts of the CONUS ... I got a bite as well. KE code P228 with all OEM ... looks like a safe queen, except for the new sights (old ones in the box).

Recently picked up this pristine used P239 357 for $550.00 to go with my P220.
Put an SRT kit and professional trigger job on it.
The P239 now has a glassy revolver like 7.0 lbs DA!

Nice 220, I believe it was probably made the same year as mine, 95. The mid 90s made 220s are some of the best in my opinion. They had very high quality parts and the updated frame and trigger group. You might want to pick up a trigger return spring at some point for a spare. They have a bit of history of breaking.

Thanks for the tip, I will do that.
I took it out and shot 50 rds. thru it today. It ran perfectly as expected. It really throws the empties out there some landed 15-20 feet from where I was standing. At least they weren't hitting me in the head. LOL.
I need more practice though, I am more accurate with my 9mms. It was fun at any rate and a mighty nice gun.

I have one just like it. It's the most accurate 45 I've ever shot. If I could figure out a way to do it it would be my EDC. I love everything about it. I traded a mil spec colt 1911 for it 15 years ago and don't plan on ever getting rid of it.
