Wal mart selling ar 15's

I have had a guy tell me that the guns that are sold in wally world are not of the same quality as in gun stores. Is this true? My local walmart has a sig m400 with a prismatic scope for right under $900. They also have a colt but not sure of the model. Should i worry or no?

~$900 seems about right. I wouldn't put it past them to try and get cheaper versions of the real thing though. Budsgunshop.com has an M400 for $918 though.

I have heard similar - from people who work in gun stores with outrageously high prices.

Same guns as you get everywhere else.

P.S. The Pepsi is the same too, as is the Hunts Ketchup, Oreo cookies.....well you get the ideal.

The guns they sell in Wal-mart are the same guns we sell in the shop. A lot of the time, you can buy a gun cheaper at Wal-Mart than I can order it from one of major wholesalers (like RSR or Davidsons). Just my humble opinion, but gun shops without a range are doomed.

Yeah, Colt has two production lines: one for quality guns, one for non-quality guns.

I have a local shop only a couple miles down the road. They are good people and i will support them as best i can. Hes already told me he can build a ar for me for around 800. If i dont have all the cash he does layaway. So maybe you pay more for a more knowledgeable staff and customer service.

I agree, I will pay more knowingly for that very reason.

It's internet bunk.

The Colt in Wal-Mart is no better or worse quality than in the gun store.

Side note: Avoid bubba'd ARs built by small shops, unless you can be sure they actually know what they are doing. Most gun stores couldn't build a quality AR (even from good parts) to save their lives.

I contacted my Senators and Representative to voice my opposition to a new "assault weapon" ban. Did you?

If it's your first, then I'd suggest buying a complete rifle from a reputable manufacturer, or buying separate (complete) upper and lower assemblies and putting them together (easier than field stripping it - seriously). You should concentrate on learning the weapon first, then tinkering with it second.

Walmark can buy in huge bulk...therefore getting them cheaper. It is a shame though. I'd rather support my local gun shop than Walmart but cripe....if it's 5%-10%-20% cheaper, ....

I just ordered my Colt LE6920 from Bud's because I refuse to give my money to WalMart! I hate that place and whenever possible I shop at Target instead. Of course, for groceries, we will ONLY shop at PUBLIX!!!!!

Made a trip to the only local Walmart that sells guns---in the case:

Colt 6920 w/Magpul furniture $1097

DPMS ?model $547

Windham M4 $800ish

2 Sig AR's 1 rifle-1 carbine--$917 each----the rifle didn't have a muzzle device but it did have a flat top

Ruger Mini-14 $647

AR styled S&W .22 $500ish---I think?

AR styled Mossberg .22 $227

I was amazed to see all that in a Walmart.

Wal-Mart contracted with various gun companies to make guns out of cheap pot metal instead of the real steel.

My Sako TRGS bought in Wally World fell apart after three rounds. It was made out of paper mache.

It's crap, probably started by someone who competes with wal-mart.

Except that the Army rifles are made by FN and FN doesn't sell the semiauto version to civilians.

Well, what about guns originally sold at Walmart but later resurfacing at gun shops as used guns?

How are they going to ensure THEY are not selling you a used gun that originally was sold through Walmart?
