9mm vs 380 for hunting brown bears

so where is the best place for me to get replacement recoil springs for my remington r1? I tried wolff but they didn't have a have an option for remington...i was assuming colt would be fine since its the same design but I dont wanna mess my gun up.

Better tell us how fat you are, and how many huntin' buddies you have, or else be branded a trool! In light of that, everyone knows .22 Short is the best "bear escape" round, unless you're alone.

Everyone knows that a 10mm is the only round that will take brown bear cleanly.

I suggest you get a stick instead. If you really pi** it off, you wont need a gun.........anymore.....

(don't know about the springs)

To the original poster, 1911s springs are standard from brand to brand. For your R1 use a Wolfe 16lb spring, the normal weight for the 1911.

Any brand will work as long as its the correct tension and for a gov model.

bear

You know what they say about being in bear country: Just make sure you can outrun the person you are with and you are safe.
I was huntin some brown bears in 7.62 x 39. Already have a bunch of Wolf and some white box no name.

I've always wondered if you had an AK-47, a full mag of 7.63x39 and you came up on a healthy pissed off male lion (obviously in Africa), would you have a chance?

Or more to this fantasy thread, a big PO'd brown bear?

9mm or .380 will be sufficient to save your bacon if used properly.

Read some of those books by professional hunting guides. They claim that a brown bear that means to get you will keep coming until he drowns in his own blood. Might just be some book sales drama. Don't plan to find out. "Death in the long grass" was pretty good.

Good grief, I can't believe some of the stupid posts you guys are posting. The most most effective way to protect yourself in the event of a brown/grizzly attack is to cover your head with your arms and sing "Like a good neighbor State Farm is there". This is the current method touted by Alaska Fish and Game for protection in bear country. It's amazing some of you guys can function without a babysitter.

FOR BEARS- ALWAYS carry a couple of Large, Meat Lovers Pizzas. If it turns out that you don't run into bears, try to run into some BEERS and have a feast.

WOW! That title almost totally backfired on ya!

Apparently, reading the actual post by the OP is overrated.

Good on the 2 guys who actually answered your question.
