I'm not sure if this was asked of me but my sister lives in Harrison Township. She's been out there for 25 years and still misses New Yawk.  (especially the beaches.)

Harrison Twp. has beaches, including Metro Beach (well, now called Lake St. Clair Metro Park). But, yeah, I grew on on the west side of the state; east side beaches do not compare with those on Lake Michigan. I get where your sister is coming from.

The good news is, she's only 3 hours from the west side of the state. And can hit the beaches here.
What part of the west side jph?

I grew up in Holland; still have relatives there. I've been in the metro Detroit area over 25 years now, which is how I know how the beaches compare (or, rather, don't).
