Finally!!!!

As of tomorrow I will be the proud owner of my very first AK. LGS called, my Arsenal SGL21-61 is in and ready for pick-up. I don't think I will be able to sleep tonight. It only comes with 1, 5 round mag. Any suggestions on where I can get some good 30 round mags? I heard there was a bulgarian brand that was pretty good.

Bulgarian Circle 10s. They are polymer mags with steel reinforced feed lips and steel locking lugs, best polymer mags on the market and they fit in SGL21s like they were made for each other.

Edit: I should add that these mags go for around $35 a pop, so they are pricey. If you want something cheaper that is still of good quality then you are going to want to look at Eastern European steel surplus mags, you can get them at Aim for around $11 or $12.

I'm going to agree with everything above. The circle 10s are awesome and the CHUGOs from AIM (they say European surplus on the site) are great.

Circle-10 magazines are great, but beware other Bulgarian polymer 7.62x39 magazines, as they are not reinforced.

I haven't ordered any from AIM surplus, but what the "CHUGO" sounds like is AIM is marketting a Chinese AK magazine (no ridge) as a European AK mag. Chinese mags, while heavy, are good to go, and more desireable than a European mag. Euro steel magazines work just as well as the Chinese, but the ridge is annoying.

U.S. Palm makes a polymer magazine (actually made by Tango Down) that had some teething issues at first, but is now a solid magazine. The downside is that for the cost, you could just buy a Circle-10 magazine instead (the Chircle-10 is known to be reliable, and is fully reinforced). The Palm magazines are also over-sized and don't fit well in some magazine pouches.

Avoid any plastic magazine that I didn't mention (Tapco, Promag, Thermold, etc).

Lastly, the 5 round magazine your rifle will come with is a cut down Circle-10, just so you know what you're looking for.

The bad thing about synthetic mags is that if you drop them loaded, on a hard surface, they have a tendancy to spill their ammo and split. I have a stack of Bulgarian 5.45 mags from factory 10 that have split right down the front along the left side of the steel reinforcement. Some of the Bulgarian IDS mags don't even have the steel reinforcements. The IDS mags are made from a different polymer and crack instead of split. The East German bakelite mags are far more durable, but not immune to impact damage.

I've not had this issue with any of mine, U.S. Palm or Circle-10. Of course, I don't have any in 5.45.

This is the trade-off you make with different mag materials. Polymer will crack and split; metal will dent.
