I'm glad it's Sunday! It's been a long weekend... Got taser certified yesterday. That is not something I wish to repeat!

Was the ride mandatory? It was optional when I did it.

Optional, but there was no way I wasn't going to take the ride. Although it sucked, OC is still worse, IMO.

Eh, I figured they'd already sprayed and gassed me, and I don't buy into the argument that it helps you explain it in court. If that's the logic, why not be shot or beat with a baton?

Probably because Worker's Comp is so expensive. Besides after seeing some of the people in my academy shoot, I sure wouldn't want to see one of them try to shoot me somewhere non-fatal.

Lol, good point. I just have an issue with that line of thinking, though. I can see the OC exposure; when you use it, you're gonna get it yourself, and you have to know how to react. Same thing with CS gas. With a taser, though, what's the real point? Especially after several deputies in my grandfather's agency had to go to the hospital after pieces of the probes broke off inside their backs, and had to be almost surgically removed.

We remove the barbs for some of the local PDs. I've only had to transport a person once to the hospital to remove them. This poor person that was running from the cops was shot almost point blank in the sternum. They were lodged solidly into the bone. They wouldn't move at all. So don't run from the cops.

My agency terminated the wires with alligator clips rather than barbs and physically placed them on the clothing as close to the skin as possible.
I don't know if Taser offers this as a training cartridge option or not, but it makes sense in training.

The higher the voltage, the faster the ocular RPM.

The warnings about heart arrhythmia made me a little uneasy about things as well. Running 50,000 volts through your body can't be healthy...

Yeah, that's one of the training cartridges. We had a few take those, and a few take the barbs. The clips hurt worse, I've been told, and can leave burns on the skin.

We only had one officer take the clips when I went thru certification, and they did her dirty. One clip on her left shoulder blade, and the other right above her right Achilles tendon. Talk about a spread! She was laying on face down when they juiced her and she just about formed a "U" with her body. It was at that moment that I opted to be shot with the barbs
