I can't find my original purchase price, but I have a 2005 Springfield Loaded Parkerized 5" I've toyed with getting rid of it a couple times. I believe I paid just under $800 for it. It's not a NM frame.

I've grown to love this pistol. I bought it wanting a Pro, or TRP, but that's over my budget. I don't like the Parkerized, but I've put up with it. Trigger could be better. Accuracy could be better (it does 2.5" at 10yds off-hand. My Glock's 19, 21, and Beretta 92FS can do under an inch at 10yds with WWB). It's combat accurate, but I want to reel in my groups more. Rattles a lot too. Very loose, lots of give in the bushing too. Very reliable though. I changed to the GI recoil plug vs 2-piece rod after I bought it. Free G10 grips too.

Main question... Would it be worth it to send my Loaded to Geneseo and make it a TRP for at least $895 (I think that's still the TRP-Package price). Not a true TRP, but TRP-Spec. I'd keep the GI plug system vs FLGR. Should of done this package when it was $100 cheaper a couple years ago...

Or, send it in, tighten frame/slide fit, better one-piece match barrel/bushing, trigger job, front strap check, deburr here/there, upgrade some parts (no MIM), and ArmoryKote or Black-T entire pistol. Haven't really priced this all out.

It's been a reliable 1911, that's fed nearly everything I've put through it (besides a couple Wolf's). I'd hate to part with it, we've been through a lot. I've got 2,500-3,000ish rounds through it. Basically, looking to make it more TRP-ish in performance and looks.

As far as overall cost, I can do $1,000, but I'd prefer under that.

Then keep it.

The TRP is a good handgun worth what ever time saving up to buy one. You can shop around in the mean time and you will have a very good idea what they sell for. You will know what to bid on one and when to stop and walk away.

Some day could have both.

If you want to tighten up the group, there are two things you can do, inexpensively, that will help to tighten up the group.
1) call EGW and have them turn a new barrel bushing that matches the barrel's OD and the ID of the slide.

2) get a slide stop that has a true 0.200 pin diameter. (10-8 or Wilson) the barstock will also benefit the gun.

I was thinking of having SACS turn my Range Officer into a TRP clone for a few months. After much deliberation, I ended up buying a TRP on GB for $1300 w/ free shipping.

If you only want one 1911, I'd go the SACS route. Your needs & budget may be different, but I figured, why pay $900 for an upgrade on the RO when for a few hundred more I can have my RO and a TRP.

Good move. I never understood who in their right mind would get the TRP upgrade. I bought my TRP slightly used for $100 more than the upgrade costs.

I like your thinking. Same predicament.

Coming to realize, why pay for a TRP-Clone, when I could have a real one. I've got a grand. I've waited since 2005, I can wait longer.

I'll go the EGW bushing route for sure, can't leave my first 1911, wanting more. Slide stop too from 10-8 (been wanting their mag catch too).

Or figure out what changes you would like and which ones you could live without and send it to the custom shop for some work. Then its your same gun, but personalized and will shoot as good or better than a TRP cause it will get some extra love. Nothing wrong with saving the pennies for a second pistol though, I shoot a stainless TRP.

-10-8 Flat Head Grip Screws (tired of hex)

I'll wait on the 10-8 mag catch. I'll ask for it for Christmas
