He probably didn't know his dinner contained THC/cannabinoids.

I'm curious about the test conducted and whether it was capable of detecting all of the various compounds in the "bath salts" family. There seems to be a new variant coming on the scene all the time. The out of state lab that we use to test for synthetics re-publishes the list of what they can test for fairly regularly.

That's part of our big problem. They come out with new drugs every so often and it's impossible to keep up with the way their all rebranded.

According to Illinois State Police lab, Bath Salts and Spice cannot be detected in blood or urine, in reference to our DUI cases. I'm told this is why both drugs are very popular with military personnel.

Yeah most labs do not screen for it unless they are specifically looking for it.

I think this problem is only going to get worse.

What I meant was that they don't even have the capabilities yet in the labs to look for whatever new chemical gets put in the stuff every month.

Texas passed set laws for Spice and Bath Salts. It to a point now that we seize the product, send it to a lab, and get told months later if it meets the state law..

Once we have set brands listed as illegal, the names or ingredients change...

Waste of our time and money right now busting people, so we just hit the shops or sellers as hard as we can.

We've been using NMS labs for K2/spice:

http://www.nmslabs.com/services-forensic-K2-testing

Their list of compounds is short, but it's better than our state lab, which cannot test for any of them.

First actual case of reefer madness, in how many decades? Not likely.

Odds are good there was something in his system they didnt check for, and whoever sold it to him has forgotten about the sale and hoping there isn't a receipt in the cannibal's pocket.

I can't believe you people actually believe it was solely THC that made him do this. The amount of sheer ignorance here is quite sad.

You lacking the capacity to recognize obvious sarcasm, and general tomfoolery, leads me to believe that you don't have the right to call anyone else ignorant.

It could have been marijuana mixed with something else.

Though I would really hate to think that in a case like this the medical examiners/lab techs would have missed anything.

It was probably because Big Bird said the letter "A" on a Tuesday, in 1992. Prove it wasn't.
