Paclite barrels
Has anyone here ever had a Paclight barrel?
A friend is considering one for his Ruger.
Any opinion is wanted, especially the educated ones. Thanks!

I recently purchased one for my Ruger 22/45. The barrel on my 22/45 was such a tight fit I could barely get it off. When I got the Paclite barrel the fit was very loose, I ended up shimming underneath the barrel to remove the slop. Very happy with the results now, have a very light gun with no play between the barrel and receiver.
Is there a specific aspect of the Paclite barrel that your friend wants an opinion on?

I had a Paclite upper for my Ruger .22/45. My wife liked the bright colors and contrasting fluting. Failed in interesting her in shooting more which was one of the reasons I bought it.
Downside is that the gun was far less reliable with the Paclite. I can't see why that was the case but it jammed a lot with the Paclite. The gun is monotonously reliable with the factory upper and returned to reliable when I put it back on. Sold the upper. Don

If it matters, Ruger makes their own version now (complete pistol - not just an upper)

He wants it for his MKII. He likes the integral picatinny rail for a sight/scope.
His factory barrel isn't as accurate as he would like. He likes the looks of the fluted barrel and the convenience of the rail.

I have the "Integral Scope Base" on my Paclite barrel and it is nice. I wanted to create a survival 22/45 so I picked up the Paclite barrel to save weight, purchased the integral scope base so I could have backup iron sights, and put a rugged and reliable red dot on top. I'm very pleased with it so far, my only complaint is that I don't get to shoot it enough!

I've had a Paclite barrel on my 22/45 for about four years. I purchased one with a threaded muzzle so I could use it with my supressor. The barrel, with or without supressor, is just as accurate as the OEM barrel and the weight of the Paclite barrel plus supressor is lighter than the OEM stainless target barrel.
