Getting rid of the Shield
Hey guys in really debating on keeping my Shield 9mm because I pulled the trigger on the XDs 45 its on layaway for now because didn't have the cash to buy it but enough to remove it away from everyone else lol.
Anyways I really like the Shield but always, always was interested in the PPS I found I good deal on one but I don't know if it's on par with the Shield or not? Quality comparison?
My Shield has been flawless I love it. But since I will have my XDs here in a couple of weeks, and the PPS is kinda a steal I really don't want two slim 9mm. So if I want the PPS the Shield has to go.
What should I do? Or am I just spoiled haha!

I would take a Shield over a PPS.
Grip feels better, I like the standard mag release, magazines aren't $50, better trigger and it's cheaper.
If you enjoy the Shield, keep it.

Well, the M&P Shield comes with S&W's limited lifetime warranty (with free shipping), while the last time I looked, the PPS comes with the standard Walther 1-year warranty. (The PPQ differs in that it has a limited lifetime warranty for American buyers, handled through S&W's Walther America company.)
The PPS is a little bit of a complex pistol when it comes to armorer level service (which isn't a concern for regular owners). Walther even makes a special assembly tool/wrench to spread the plates of the trigger housing apart by about 5mm so the sear housing can be removed/installed. (The wrench is hooked over the ejector, which is machined and formed as one side of the trigger housing, and uses that as a lever point to spread the housing. )
As an armorer, I'd much rather work on a M&P pistol.
I plan to buy a Shield myself, as soon as the LE deliveries occur at the nearest distributor. My inclination is to buy the 9mm model.

On the other hand, if you don't want it, why keep it? You shouldn't have any trouble selling it.
I bought one of the first Shields my dealer had. It was so new, I really hadn't heard about it. I kept it about a month, shot it a few times, then decided I just don't like plastic semi-auto's so why keep trying to fool myself? It was a GOOD gun, nothing at all wrong with it, it just wasn't what I like. I listed it for sale and sold it the next day, and had people standing in line to get it if the first guy didn't take it.
Only you can make the decision.
It's just a gun. They make them all day long.

I like the Shield better. That said it is probably worse to want a PPS and never have one than to get one and decide you really like the Shield better so you sell it and get another Shield.

I like that.
Of course, now that some of the major gun companies are running a 3rd shift, keeping the CNC machines running 24 hours, they're sort of making them all night, too.

SEND IT TO ME.
I'll give it a nice home. The only one around here disappeared 5 minutes after the gun store got it out of the box.
I am so far down the waiting list.

I never liked the grip on the PPS. It feels weird.
But, I'd take a shield over a PPS all day long

And I love the grip on my PPS and don't particularly care for it on my Shield.
To me the Shield is an ok gun but the PPS is more accurate. I also prefer the mag release (which won't release inadvertently) and the trigger. I'll probably keep the Sheild just because it's a good fit with my 27 in the small .40 category but the PPS has become my carry gun of choice.

I've always liked the PPS but I think the Shield is better.

If your Shield has been flawless and you love it, why would you sell it?
I never understood the concept of constantly buying and selling. Its a great way to spend money and not have a damn thing to show for it.

I like the Shield and I liked the PPS, but you are 100% correct, don't need both slim 9's
Then again, if you can afford it keep both....they are like money in the bank (actually better, you can't "play" with the money in the bank and .05% interest?)

I am a guy who hates sub compacts and never liked M&Ps because of the stock trigger. But, I just passed the 1045 mark two days ago with my 9mm shield. It's the first subcompact I can actually shoot about as well as a fullsize gun. And, I have owned many subcompacts over the years.
I have owned several Walther P99s in the past. Not a PPS, but they do make good guns. Keep the one ya like. But as just stated above.. Why not just keep both. A year or two down the line, you may wish you had...

Well said.....and could easily prove to be great advice, depending upon the outcome of the elections.
In other news, Stay Tuned for Ship's "Wheel O' Shields" coming to a channel near you soon.

Good point. Keeping what you like and being very familiar with it makes sense to me. One thing I like about the FNP 40 is that the controls are very similar to P229 so the transition was easy. Or getting a new 1911.

That was what I was going to recommend. Of course, now I'm hoping you can post detailed comparison pics of The Shield vs. the XD-S.
<<-- After looking for a Shield for 2 months, now has an XD-S on the way.

I played with a used shield yesterday, I'll stick with the PPS. I am however, lusting after an XDs for some reason.

XD 9 Subcompact, NICE gun...sold, but what I really miss is the PPS I sold to a friend who traded it after a while without letting me know, I think the 2 nicest 9's I've had are the PPS and the Shield.
I carry my Sig P238 mostly because I found a really small holster for it, as soon as I find a nice small belt holster for the Shield, I'll carry that.
