SGL21 Build
Hey all I've had my SGL21 for about a year now after replacing a piece of ***** SIG M400, and have finally began modding it slowly to what I like.
At a friends bad advice I ordered a tapco set and had to lightly file down alot of the parts due to sharp jagged edges and immediately began replacing them.
I'm currently running:
Hogue Black Grip
MI/US Palm Tri Rail with the custom T1/Sparc mount
Vortex Sparc Mount
GripPod that has made its way through several AR's and a custom Noveske N6 .308 that I used in competitions.
Was debating Magpul AFG2 fore end grip but after spending a weekend shooting a friends I disliked it immediately.
And sometime next week I will have:
Ace Lightweight skel stock
Ace Uni adapter (Non folding)
Tronix Charging Handle Mod (Oversized)
Future:
There is a Cerakote certified applicator here in my local area that I want to paint McMillan Olive.
G2 Trigger, once I find a local gun guy to swap it for me, I dont want to mess with it.
Lube:
Ive used BreakFree for the most part on all my firearms and switched to Remoil, then back to Breakfree. Now im using Frog lube and love it.
Anywho just wanted to share my build, will have pictures up within a week once its completed.

Install the G2 yourself. It's easier than installing the rail was.

Since you're throwing a G2 in install something like this with it, and never worry about that wire ever again. I think Tapco makes a version of it too, as well as a few other vendors.
If you still want to retain the wire for some reason just use this picture as a guide:

I agree with Max. Replace the wire with the retaining plate he listed the link ( http://www.solartactical.com/AK-FCG-...-PLATE-277.htm) to.
That's what I used and it is solid.

Will post pics soon, whenever my damn ace stock gets here, havent even recieved a shipping notice from them yet and its been a week.
On a side note I actually had a moment today where I could install the Hogue Grip... and its wobbly and loose as ****. Gonna go home and reinstall it, and drill a hole farther back so that the trigger guard is actually sitting in the groove properly...
If that doesnt work, has anyone ever JB weld'd it like a rifle scope to mount?

Never had a problem with the Hogue grip on my SGL21.
I wonder if shimming it up with washers would help tighten it.

I googled it, and am kinda pissed, there were at least a 100 forum posts on this subject stating that the bushing nut (stock) was too long and requires shaving by 1/8"...
But if your SGL21 doesnt have any issues I don't know what to think, mines about a year old so maybe they swapped bushing nuts... how old is yours?

My SGL is fine, but the fix listed above is what I'd do if there was a problem.

The gap would still be there, tighter yes, but it would still be able to move back and forward.
The nut is too long im just gonna take it a buddy on base who works sheetmetal and have him cut it 1/8" and if that doesnt work, its pretty damn cheap on Kvar for a new one.

Update:
Got my ACE UL Stock and Univ AK block last night. Opened up package, plenty of stickers hell yea!
Millions of screws, Awesome extra parts.
1 page of instructions begin installing, things dont seem to add up, go on ACE website to see PDF instructions (For a rec block? lol) Missing Figure 1, which seems to be the only one I need.
After re reading the blurry paragraph a few times, i realize they put the wrong parts in the wrong baggies, IE the reciever block screws in the stock bag, and the stock hardware in the rec block... At this point im laughing, I continue on.
Begin sliding the zero tolerance cheek rest onto the tube, gently tugging in a clockwise rotation literally inching it onto the tube then... it falls apart...
Requested a refund... good customer service though, I guess ill keep the KVAR buttstock that came with it.
