59,904 units of caliber 9mm Pistol
This is five times the number ng original plan ng PNP. Big lift improvement.
I wonder what made the change in count. And Im even more excited on who will win the bid.

http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/220045/...for-59940-guns
"During the public bidding held at the PNP National Headquarters for units of calibre 9mm pistol concluded around 5 p.m., R. Espineli Trading/Israel Weapons Industry topped the list as the lowest bidder with its Jericho 941 PL pistols, followed by Trust Trade with P997, 997, 045.76 for its Glock 17 Gen 4 pistols.
Next on the list were Counter Measure/Kolonwell Trading with P1,064,959,534.08 for its CZ 75 P-07 pistols; and Armscor with P1,197,960,192 for its Tanfoglio pistols."

some countries require that the unit be produced in their territory for the bid to qualify or win. this is done so that the factory put up will employ locals. it will stimulate local industry. provide much needed jobs.
i wonder if this ever crossed the mind of the one's in charge. baka busy sa panliligaw.

may accuracy test ba?
Interesting that the top 2 contenders while excellent pistols, have polygonal barrels
Would fmj be used to test the guns?
Will the PNP issue fmj rounds sa kapulisan?

mukang naissue na dati yung polymer jericho?
I saw a cop w/ this gun may PNP markings sa slide
It does look like a good quality gun , mas mabigat lang sa glock
mukang maganda sa prod div if hindi polygonal ang barrel

the advantages of polymer are light weight , easier interchangeabily ng parts, at lower cost pag maramihan
We have to guess w/c one of those reasons ang reason
Di naman nag reklamo ang local manufacturers sa criteria , so baka may valid reason

Picked this up from PPF
The online news portal of TV5
The Philippine National Police (PNP) is set to conduct "endurance tests" on Glock pistols as part of its process to procure nearly 60,000 guns to plug its firearm shortage.
It will strictly observe procurement rules and procedures once it holds performance tests on on Glock 17 Generation 4 pistols submitted by the second lowest bidder, Trust Trade, the PNP said on Tuesday.
Trust Trade, which entered a bid of P998 million, passed the first stage of procurement after the first lowest bidder, R. Espineli, was disqualified for failing to meet documentary requirements.
Functional tests on the pistols will begin on Thursday, July 19, at the firing range in Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City.
In the functional test, the PNP Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) Technical Working Group will choose at random two pistols from 10 submitted samples.
The chosen sample units will undergo the 20,000 rounds of endurance test with representatives from other proponents, pre-qualified bidders, the Department of Interior and Local Government, media, and other parties.
To preclude any bidders' undue influence on the testing procedure, the "no contact rule" will be strictly observed, prohibiting direct interaction among proponents/bidders with members of the BAC, PNP deputy director general Emelito Sarmiento, current chairman of the BAC, said.
The functional test will run from July 19 to July 26.
"The PNP will strictly observe prescribed rules in the actual testing because we want to ensure that the PNP will get only the best equipment for our policemen," Sarmiento said.
The PNP procurement program for 59,904 handguns out of its P1.19 billion budget is its largest procurement so far
