Hello from SoCal-Vietnam Veteran, ARMY
Hi all. This is an amazing site. I do not shoot anymore, but enjoy reading about the latest products. Been a knife collector and user for 50+ years and have found good knives and good people.
I am 'retired' - 100% disabled due to results from my 'all expense paid vacation' to Nam in 1970-71. Was an artillery sgt at 19. Active Army 3 years; 6 years Minnesota National Guard. Mailing address is SoCal, but I actually live in Mexico. On the BAJA, south of Tijuana and Rosarito. LOTS less snow than Minnesoa!
Looking forward to meeting new friends and having some fun. Thank you!

I'm hearing more and more people in CA are doing the Baja Mexico thing for retirement. Seems they are really building it up, and the price seems right.

Thanks - Yes there are literally thousands of Americans, plus English speaking Mexicans who have been deported, here in the Baja. The dollar does go farther - gas is about $2.25 / gallon and THEY PUMP IT! Wash windows. usually ask if oil, water OK! Some things, like building material, are much more expensive, but my wife and I can go to dinner, get fresh fish tacos, chips salsa and a drink - for about $5.00.
There are things that are very different - you are responsible for finding where the electric company put your bill, which comes every other month, then paying it. None of this mail it in, you must go and pay with cash. There are very few street signs or addresses - mail delivery is non-existent.
However - I have a 2,000 sq ft house, tuck-under 2 car garage and 2 bedroom suites - each has full bath. Gated community, very quiet and 3 balconies that over look the Pacific - $900 / month! Plus - I am from Minnesota; born and raised. Shoveling snow gets really old after 50+ years of doing it! Haven;t seen snow here yet.

Thank you to all - I feel welomed already! Bill1725 - where were you stationed and with what unit? I went to Army Engineer schools at Ft.Belvoir, VA from Jan 70-early April 70.
