The waiting sucks. Mine was suppose to be delivered today, but now the delivery was changed to Thursday.

Kahr P/PM45 FTW!
My cousin got an XDS two weeks ago. Got to shoot it Sunday, also had my P45 along. We both agreed the Kahr was the better pistol. 6+1 with easy to find 7 rd. mags. The PM45, also 5+1 is smaller. We were both more accurate with the Kahr by a considerable margin - say two person six shot average 2" @ 25'. No malfunctions from either pistol.
All of my seven Kahrs have not been fantastic. Only ones to never have any malfunctions of any kind are P9, PM9, P45 and K40. The P45 in black with an inner tube on the very agressive grip is a beauty and a joy to shoot and carry.
I really think Springfield with the XDS and S&W with their new slim piece (can't think of the name) need to keep these but add one round for a three finger grip and some barrel to 3.5". The XDS is a LARGE and fairly heavy pocket gun. Like I said, the Kahr PM45 would be better for a pistol dedicated to pocket carry.

The XDs already has a 7 round extended mag that provides a full grip. They may be hard or impossible to find RIGHT NOW but that will change quickly.
The PM45 is maybe an ounce or two lighter than the XDs but is larger in some dimensions yet has the same capacity. The PM45 is a bit shorter in length though. Frankly if you could pocket carry one you could pocket carry the other. But neither are necessarily pocketable, it depends entirely on the pants.
Accuracy? Well I've never shot a PM45 but the first time I shot the XDs I put 4 rounds into the same hole at 5 yards. Granted that's not 8 yards but it was essentially a 0.1" group!
I have a PM9 and I imagine the PM45's trigger is about the same. I much prefer the XDs' trigger.

Held one of these today. Really like the way it feels.
Definitely on my short short list.

Broke down after watching Hickock45's review , and now just won a gunbroker auction on the XDS 45 for 580 plus cost of shipping. still not bad when you consider the wait vs immediate gratification in being the first in your state to own one :P

Way to go, that is what I did. I didn't want to wait any longer, and knew I would spend a little more maybe.
Anyway, I picked it up Thursday and shot it. Here was a report I posted elsewhere.

Well, a little later than expected, but I finally got it today. Took it right into the range and put some rounds through it. 25 Golden Sabers, 25 Hydro Shok, 25 Gold Dots (this will ultimately be what I use in it), and 50 230 ball reloads. The gun fed everything without issue. I am very impressed with this pistol. One thing that I found ironic, this gun is more GLOCK like, than XD like, especially in the trigger. The trigger bar pushes the striker back, rather than using a sear like the bigger XDs. Also, the grip safety appears to only block the trigger bar movement, and the gun can be racked without deactivating the grip safety, unlike it's bigger brothers as well. I also don't see a big roll pin through the top that is used to hold the striker in place like on the larger XD pistols. This is the weak link of those guns IMO, as excessive dry fire could cause this roll pin to break, making the gun unusable.
One thing I had issue with is the sights. For one, the gun shoots left. Three of us shot it with the same result (one being a world champion IDPA shooter), so at least I know it isn't just me. A little drift to the rear sight should cinch that up. Also, not fond of the dots on the rear sights. Not sure why they did that with a fiber optic front. It's not like they do that on the XDM guns. Will look to blacken them out some how.
The grip texture is very good in controlling the recoil of the .45s. The reloads were a breeze (they are loaded to IDPA power factor, which is lighter than most factory). The Hydro Shoks shot the hardest, but still quite manageable. The gun didn't shift around, I didn't have to reposition my grip at all while shooting. This is not something I could say about my G27 at first (until I installed the GAP floor plates which really lock the gun in place). I had more ammo with me, and I could have shot more (wasn't fatigued from the shooting). However, it was stupid hot in the range, and it felt wasteful to continue shooting up ammo until I had time to make the sight adjustment (and maybe black out the rear if possible).
I tried a little pocket carry and did some comparisons with my J frame (which does current pocket duty). While I need a proper pocket holster, I feel this could replace the J frame for me in this role. It is a little heavier, but not as much as I would think. Of course I'm talking about the feel, and not the actual weight.

Congrats , I couldn't keep waiting ... $600 and no gun for 2+ weeks hit my nerve , and the fact it wasn't "necessary" didn't help the wait (G29 is my CCW)
Went in LGS and saw a new M&P 9c , I figured I never really had a 9mm just .45's , .40's and my 10mm.
Shot her today , great pistol -- trigger sucks. I will be putting the APEX comp kit in on Monday to fix that , but I'm more then happy with my purchase. The price of 9mm is surprisingly low and now I can go to the range much more often.
The XDS is next on the list for sure , heard nothing but great reviews ...

He then offered me the chance to fire a few rounds through it and make my own determination.

Congrats. Did you do a size comparison side by side? Sounds like a good all around solution for you.
Having myself just gotten an XDS, I'm looking for it to replace both my G27 and JFrame in their respective rolls. Note: main carry will continue to be an older G30, with the XDS as more of an alternate carry. Kind of ironic that my "pocket gun" has a light rail, but my "belt gun" doesn't.
