One reason why I'm careful about "printing" and usually carry IWB at 1 or 2 o'clock, cross draw at 11 o'clock or pocket. I like to keep my weapon within my reach only.

Well it's quite obvious the prep knew he was armed- someone he knew? Blind sided? CCW's SA very poor. He's lucky to come out alive. So much for CCW being safe from gun grab right TBO!!

I wonder what type of holster he was carrying in and whether he was OCing or not.

How do you know he was concealed?
And no one is "safe" from a gun grab, concealed or otherwise.

Well, with the growing number of citizens carrying guns in the USA, this was bound to happen somewhere.

The article did say he had a CC permit. Maybe he had a big mouth or printed? Or maybe it showed at a store or a gust of wind. Maybe they knew him or ..........

Not 100% sure but I think you need a permit to OC in MN.

Carrying in condition 3 would have prevented this! The CCWer would have just laughted at the BG.

If only he had carried in a SmartCarry, the story might have had a happy ending...

There isn't a "concealed carry" permit in Mn. It's a permit to carry and a gun can be carried concealed, open, or somewhere inbetween. Open carry requires a permit.
The article isn't specific enough as to how the gun was carried only that he was acting legally when he was assulted.

I think the victim is right when he said it gives you a chance but it's not a certainty. However, I'd rather have a better fighting chance anyday

I'll pick it up sooner or later.....
If someone is going to ambush you, I'm not sure if you could prevent it no matter how alert you are when walking home. The fellow probably had less than a second to react and I know that I wouldn't have been able to defend myself unless I already had my hand on my weapon. Who knows exactly how it went down.
Glad he's OK and they caught the guy.

From reading all articles available it sounds like the victim reported the suspect went through his pockets (kind of like a pat down) looking for items and felt the gun, then took the gun, then held it to the owners head.

Trouble is many people think because they have that gun on them then that is all the security they need. No awareness, no positioning, no training to prevent a gun snatch...
Yes don't be a blabbremouth and let people know you pack. And do realize there is always a gun present wherever you go (YOURS.) And do learn how to stop a gun snatch (the Lindel method is a good one.)
Most importantly, KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN AND BE AWARE.
