Engraving a Revolver Cylinder

I recently purchased a Charter Pathfinder Combo rimfire stainless steel revolver with 22LR and 22 Magnum interchangeable cylinders. The cylinders are distinguished from one another only by a tiny "L" and "M" stamped onto their respective breech faces. The barrel of the pistol itself is prominantly stamped "22 Magnum."

What I'd like to do is to have the calibers etched or engraved onto the respective cylinders . . . around the circumference of the cylinders just behind the flutes. When I've called jewlery shops and trophy engraving shops they don't think they can do the job (I've explained that I could bring in just the cylinders, not the gun itself). Their expressed concerns are both about the hardness of the metal and about the curved surface.

I could live with either etching or engraving--it's just alphanumeric information--and I'm sure that I could have a hand-engraver do the job, though at a steep price. This is a relatively inexpensive pistol.

So, I'd appreciate any suggestions the group might have regarding the sort of shop or technology which might best suit my needs.

Since they are stainless why not just have one frosted, or high polished?

I have thought, with my Bulldog, about high polishing the flutes and frosting the cylinder

I recommend Zipgraver.com. Great rates and great/fast service. They did my G22:
