Ruger SP101

Hi Mas,

What is the load you recommend for a SP101 with night stand duty. Thanks for all you work you do for us.

I use 125 grain full Magnum hollow point in mine. The SP101 soaks up the recoil well for a gun of its size. However, I've had the advantage of lots of practice and qualification time with this combination.

If anyone in the family is recoil sensitive or worried about Magnum muzzle blast in close quarters, two .38 Special +P loads have earned excellent reputations for stopping fights: the Speer 135 grain Gold Dot, and the Remington 158 grain all-lead hollow point.

best,
Mas

Hey Mas thanks but just a follow up question. If this is the 2.25 barrel would you with the Gold Dot 135 short barrel option as opposed to 135 regular?

In .38 Special, it's the same thing AFIK.

Mas
