M&P Shield compared to Walther PPS and G26

Hi folks.

I bought the new Shield last night and made a quick vid to compare the size and features of the shield with the PPS and the 26. I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, but it looks like it's going to be a great gun.

I figured the Shield is going to be closest to the PPS.

Can the slide be racked while the manual safety is on?

Sorry, I'll stick w/ my trusty G26.

One way or another that S&W can't do this -

spare G17 carry mag in G26

It definitely CAN'T do this -

and it certainly is not this SHORT either -

Not to mention did he say. "$50 for a spare 8 round mag" ?!? :(

No thanks -

(BTW, the last time I bought G18 33 round mags, and the came w/ factory +2s on them, I think they were $50 ea.

I was talking about more choice in the marketplace. But your quote sounds like someone too broke or too cheap to buy more than 1 gun.

BTW - Just so you DO know, I currently have 4 Glocks amongst the MANY other firearms I also own now, and have owned. You could say I've "tried more than a few".

I love people that come on a Glock board and then talk crap about them ("Enjoy your Block.").

I love hearing all the Glock fanboys trying to pan this gun. Funny that many of them have been clamoring for Glock to build the exact same pistol, except their god isn't listening to them.

The Shield looks like a good gun. I would not sell a G26 for one. I think he said the Walther mags were $50 Glock mags are $20 and the G18 33rds are $30 to $35.

Yeah, I choose my carry gun based on it's ability to hold a 33-round magazine

Any you know what a Glock 26 can't do? Be thin.

Great video, thanks

So 2 main points to help stop the arguing

1. The M&P is thinner but taller with the mag, holds 7+1/8+1
2. The Glock 26 is shorter but thicker holds 10+1

So if you want a shorter grip but a thicker gun and 10+1 get the G26.
If you want a thinner 7+1/8+1 but taller with the mag and manual safety get the M&P.

I have the G26 for carry and love it. Will I try this M&P out, yes, the thinner gun maybe a benefit for me but I have to shoot it first because all the speculation and guessing means sh-t if I dont like how it shoots, Im guessing I will like it but will I replace my carry gun or use it as another option for carry, will be determined after I shoot the M&P.

Hey not all on the Glock bus drinking the kool aid

are trying to piss on this gun (but like many other fans of other guns there's always some that will not like a gun for whatever reason). This isnt a religious war, Glock vs S&W. I am very interested in the M&P Shield, I own M&P's and love em, Glock is 1st of course

. But it would be nice if the Glock hierarchy jumped on this quicker than they did with the whole back strap thing

The video narrative says the G-26 is actually a touch longer than the new S&W.

I'll take a good look at this pistol, even though it has the long extractor design.

No problem. I balked at buying a baby Glock because I never warmed up to having to curl my pinkie underneath the grip, and although the GAP floorplate looks promising it's unfortunate I've never had the opportunity to hold a baby G with that floorplate.

I was very interested in the new Bersa BP9CC but in the past three gun shows none of the dealers had one. Now Smith comes out with this new Shield!

Scherer and Pearce make a extension as well and every range Ive been to has had one on their rental guns for the baby Glocks

I'm definitely keeping my G26. However, if this pistol is as nice as it seems, I will definitely be carrying it instead.

Can you see this gun as a pocket gun with a Remora type holster wearing dress slacks or do you think it is too large for that?

Probably too large for pocket carry. I see pocket guns to be the LCP size guns, with guns like the G26, PPS and Shield being too big and heavy. They are all around 19 oz unloaded - once you put the mags in that's a chunk of steel and lead and pretty heavy.

I don't particularly care for the M&P series either, but this one changed my tune. I'm going to get out and shoot it tomorrow and I'll have more feedback. The trigger definitely felt better than the regular M&P to me.
