2nd degree murder is a result of the public and media pressure put on the investigation for Zimmermans arrest. He can not get a fair trial.

Funny that the Florida Governor, AG and the Attorney General of the US all seem to be in lock step that Zimmerman needs to be charged, yet nobody has said a word about bringining action against the New Black Panther Party. I guess its not illegal to put a bounty on people anymore.

Racial politics and cowardice at its worst

Exactly what I thought.

I saw her, and the first thing I thought was "Marcia Clark".

She got herself a fresh hairdo, makeup, etc.. just struck me as a show.

Well, now that he is charged, let justice be served. Whether that means ZMan be found guilty or innocent.

I'd also agree w/ the others that I would definitely go w/ a bench trial.

Why?

Sharpton continuing to spread lies. What a bunch of horse*****.

----------

edit: And the Martin family atty is playing on this too. I don't think Corey could have been clearer that the investigation was never over, yet they are stating that no arrest would have ever been made if it wasn't for their actions, etc.

This will quiet the circus down for the year or so it will take to get this to trial. The rabble will get bored and move on to other things.

Zimmerman will be ruined, but that is a small cost to restore the comfort of the political class.

Hey folks! We had better hang together or we will hang separately. What is going to be on trial here is whether you have the right to avoid being beaten to death.

I would not be so sure that bench trial is best.

Fair question.

Well, for one, I wanted the thread to get opened up and live so we didn't have 5 or 6 people open the same thread.

I am surprised and not surprised by the charges at the same time. I am surprised at the charges because it seems as though there was a reason that he wasn't charged by the original prosecutors.

I am not surprised at the fact that it seems that the justice system seems to have buckled under the political pressure, but on the other hand, I am happy that this will go do trial, because I am sure it will be covered by CourtTv, and all the facts will end up right out on the table for the whole world to see.

The politicians decided to sacrifice a serf to the angry mob, but Zimmerman was also stupid, and he may have lost his immunity under Stand Your Ground by following Martin. That could be construed as making Zimmerman the aggressor. If it is so construed, then he has no immunity under Florida's Stand Your Ground Law.

My guess is that Corey is charging Zimmerman with 2nd Degree Murder with hopes to offer a plea deal for Manslaughter later on.

If contact was broken off (he lost sight of Martin) and he was returning to his truck, then his earlier action should be on no account...at least by LA laws

Should have been manslaughter... maybe they're angling for a plea.

I think Zim was out of line the second he got out of his car alone.

originally there were to be no charges brought

Add racial tension

Now they supposedly have enough for 2nd degree murder

This smells

Agreed.

While I don't believe (with the limited facts that have came out) that Zimmerman broke any laws by keeping eyes on Martin, I believe it was a grievous error in tactics, and put him in the position to be overpowered, thus losing control of his weapon.

It is up to each and every one of us, I believe we can do it!

It is an intense case and not difficult to see how someone can lose composure temporarily, we can help one another by bringing anyone that strays back politely. You all have my permission to do it to me if you believe it is necessary.

The prosecutor mentioned he had retained new counsel, I havenít found any articles yet that mentions who it is. Does anyone know?

For better or worse, being foolish is not illegal. Otherwise, I'd be serving a lot of time!

Ditto! Zimmerman may be innocent or may be guilty of some crimes. We will never know now. They are making a horrible joke of justice.
