I use the brush that came with my Colt to clean the lugs and the chamber and it does good work but how do you guys get the crap out after the brush? I find it very heard to get in there.

q-tips, lots of them.

I clean the bore.
Then clean the chamber & lugs with chamber brush.
I then place the muzzle in a pan. I use aresol RemOil to
rinse the debris from the lug & chamber area.

I follow up with compressed air & rags to dry.

So just wash it all down the barrel. Interesting. Never thought of that. Good idea. I have lots of remoil too. Thanks, I will try that.

Let me make this clear,......this is the ONLY use I have for RemOil.

As a lube it is garbage,.......IMO

I agree since switching to Mobil 1. I use it on all my guns now. I used to use remoil. But, I have 6 big cans because my wife doesn't know the difference between remoil and Gun Scrubber.

People make this more difficult than it needs to be. I use a chamber brush then aerosol it out with gun scrubber or whatever, maybe a couple Q tips but that’s it.

Chamber brush, the little "tapco" items and some Gunscrubber or Milcomm Cleaner down the bore into an old t-shirt works for me.

I am a gun scrubber fanatic and I just didn't think about it spraying it out. lol

For lube I use Rem Oil for cold weather. In hot weather it good for a short time. Try Break Free for warmer climates.

I was just wondering if brake cleaner would somehow harm something cause I got cans sitting around and hate buying specialty products when their are only so many chemicals available and I'm sure I have equivalent. Break cleaner kicks ass for any greasey hard to get areas...Buy a case of it...

If you think you need anything else you're over thinking the problem.

You should never let your AR get to the point you need to use it.

Just gonna use BK to flush dirt from the lugs down the barrel as other poster suggested...quick solution. AR's get dirty quick shooting range ammo. I figure it's corrosive and like to get it out of weapon asap.

I don't know of any 5.56 or .223 ammo on the market that's corrosive.

Went to range yesterday and was watching AR cleaning vid this morning but don't remember where as I was surfing. This is only second time cleaning an AR as I have only owned mine for a few weeks. At the end of the vid he said not to leave crossive ammo residue in youre barrel/weapon and of course I was feeding it box after box ect of cheap stuff....soooo I figured this would be corrosive residue if anything would be. Yeah, it would be cool if it's non corrosive cause I planned on using good, fair, cheap and any other loads when I purchased this format.I figured I would keep it clean and lubed and run it hard..that's one of the reasons I chose Colt..proven and warranty. So far really enjoying breaking it down and reassembling it. I'm probably grooming myself for build in the furtue as this disease can be overwhelming....lol

Air: While there is corrosive ammo on the market, especially in ComBloc calibers, it's rare to see it in any western calibers. Even Wolf, Brown/Silver/Golden Bear, Tula, etc. in .223 or 5.56 is non-corrosive. In fact, I'm not sure I have ever seen corrosive 5.56 ammo.
