The NRA Just Hung Up On Me

I just received a phone call from the NRA that started out

"do you trust Obama to protect your gun rights?"

me-As much as I did Romney
her-Romney didn't get elected, Obama did
me-Obama didn't ban guns the past four years, did you support Gary Johnson for president or Romney?
her-Romney
me-you know he governed a state w/ an "assault weapons" ban and magazine restrictions right? Obama hasn't done anything in 4 years and we have a Republican house
her- DO YOU TRUST OBAMA W/ YOUR GUN RIGHTS?
me-why should I distrust him?
her-DO YOU TRUST OBAMA W/ YOUR GUN RIGHTS?
me- as much as I trust Romney
her-you can go to our website for more information...click

Playing Devil's advocate (I'm pro gun and was a republican...) and I had a few minutes to waste, but I love getting a call at 8:30 at night from a fear monger who has no facts. They are preying on hysteria...I hope they get more calls like mine.

I congratulate your ability to think for yourself. Gun and ammo manufacturers are loving this hysteria.

The last straw for me with the NRA was years ago when they endorsed a known criminal for governor here in FL.

The NRA called here regularly prior to the election. I had no interest in donating to the Republicans because I have given up on the whole two party scam. I would toss all the mail I would get asking to donate to the party. The only people partying are the two parties that keep abusing us for their own interest.

And, no, I didn't vote for Obama or Ron Paul or Gary Johnson.

He WAS wrong.

What has obama done against gun rights? How about appointing 2 far left anti-gun libs to scotus who are just waiting for a majority to declare the second not an individual right.

How about the 100+ libs he appointed to lower courts?

But no...he's as pro-gun as they come. He's not merely holding back because its political suicide. He didnt just say we need an assault weapons ban. And he certainly doesnt have a record before becoming president as pretty much as antigun as a human can be.

Shhhhh, dont start using common sense on those NRA or Republican haters. It doesnt work. It doesnt matter that we will now be facing a stacked SCOTUS after this term, as long as Obama doesnt sign anything, he didnt hurt us, right?

I was an NRA member for years...never really did anything that I could tell. I really am not a hater of anything. If someone calls me up at night and yells "the sky is falling" I have a right to ask "why?". I think that the sky HAS fallen. No use to get upset now.

MAIL it.

And I do not want unsolicited e-mail either...delete, delete, delete.

Snail-Mail the crap.

By federal law, dues cannot be used for political purposes.

That's why we have the NRA-ILS, NRA-PVF, etc.

That you could tell. That says more about what you don't know than anything else.

Im hoping that he just replaces the aging libs of scotus. Then we MAY be ok. On guns at least.

Anyone that thinks obama hasnt done anything against guns is just not paying attention.

The next few years will be telling. I sincerely hope my fears are wrong and The Socialist in Office does nothing to restrict our gun rights.

However if he or they does/do, you nay sayers and Obama voters can EMBO.

Thread started about NRA being a PITA, and it turns toward Obama. I think we can all agree as gun owners/enthusiasts that the Socialist Imposter In Chief is exactly that, but the NRA has disappointed me with calls after 8 pm, a little inflated hype, and some (like only a few) of their less than flattering endorsements. That's all.

Let me start by saying that I won't be completely surprised if anti-gun legislation shows up. But it hasn't yet. Pointing to the fact that a democrat has placed other democrats in power is hardly proof of anything. Don't get me wrong it would obviously be easier to pass such legislation with fellow party members in power.

The NRA is just another lobby, trying to sway people for their agenda. The fact that they supported a Republican despite his running a state with anti-gun laws is quite telling. A man hears what he wants to hear. And if your willing to listen you will always have a boogieman to fight. That's my opinion, if you disagree talk to the poster above.
