This topic has been beat down so often.. the internet is great for misinformation.. I can confidently say that firing 200 rounds of hard cast lead in one go will not cause any problems with a 9mm oem barrel. As with any high pressure device, keep it maintained and watch for any unusual wear. However, if an inexperienced gunner asked me that, i would tell him to avoid lead too.

G23 Gen 4, late Dec 2011 fired date, so far its been 100%, not one single case to the head yet, or even close
Every shell I have picked up has not been dented in any way, shows little buldge, and is all off to the right of me. Guess Im one of the lucky ones

Gen4 G19 ~1500rnds

couple of brass to the forehead with some cheaper rounds, changed to AE 115gr / Speer Clean fires problem went away.

Have used both RSA's same effect with both.

One FTF was due to limp wristed shooter, had him tighten up his grip and no more issues.

G17 Gen 3 2500+ rounds. Zero malfunctions.
G26 Gen 3 1000+ rounds. Zero malfunctions.
G30SF 1000+ rounds. Zero malfunctions.
Brand new 19 gen 4 so far so good. Put an ameriglo front sight only and I did have a very hard time getting it tight. I am pretty sure the 4s and 3s all use the same sights but it was a struggle to make it not wiggle.......

Gen4 G19.....test fired 6/29/10. 03 spring, 336 ejector......shot all types of ammo: hollows, reloads, 115's, 124's even used it in competitions, not one failure. Always has been perfection for me....a few thousand rounds worth......

Gen 4 - Glock 21 with zero problems and the best Glock I have ever owned. If I had to chose one it would be my Gen 4 21. Soft shooter with 13+1 rounds of .45 goodness.

Gen 4 G19
Bought: 1/25/12
Test Fire Date: 9/13/2011
RSA: 043 Ejector: 336

3 FTEs within 655 rounds. 2 using WWB 115gr, 1 using AE 115gr
Erratic ejections occur often.

My CGA ordered the 30274 ejector a week ago and it hasn't arrived. He noted that there was some difficulty getting in touch with the person at Glock who was in charge of sending out the part.

Will report when the new ejector is replaced.

Peace

Had a Gen 4 G19, had ejection problems.

Brass in the face, a lot. Several stovepipes.

Only on weak ammo, though. Shooting a hotter round or higher grain would go just as normal as could be.

Sold it - just didn't want to deal with it. Sold it with disclaimer, too. Ha (Took a solid $125 loss on the sale, not real happy about that - but it was my choice)

I also have a Gen 4 G26. No problems, no ejection issues. Though, I did have one FT-FIRE - dead primer - I'm blaming the WWB wal-mart special because it was a solid deep primer strike.

We've all read a lot about the Gen 4 issues but they really seem focused on the 19's. That's not to say nobody else has had issues with a different model - but I don't think it's been to the extent that was the case with the 19.

That said, I plan to pickup a new 19 in a few months if things stay clear.

glock 19 gen 4

I have a glock 19 gen 4, when I got it there was a severe problem with ftf and 4 out of 5 brass straight back into my face, I sent the pistol back to glock and it was back to me in 8 days, they paid for all shipping(overnight). When the pistol was returned they swaped out the ejector and changed the trigger springs. The gun runs fantastic now no brass to the face and the trigger is very smooth.

Gen4 G23 purchased 3 days ago.

200 rounds of 165gr WWB and 23 rounds of Golden Saber 180gr. Zero malfunctions. Going to blast another 100-200 rounds of WWB now.

So far so good. Things I love about the Gen4 vs my Gen3's are the grip and mag release. I also hear that the new recoil spring tames the .40 a good amount but I've never shot the Gen3 23.

I understand, but if you fire 1000 rounds in a day in some pistol courses or mix plated and lead you can have issues. Firing out of battery being one of those day ruining event.

Can it be done, sure, but the risk is there. Minor changes to OAL or setback can cause exponential increases to chamber pressure very quickly.

I would advise ANY shooter not to do this, spend the money on a aftermarket bbl and shoot lead all day.

good luck.

My Gen4 G17 had similar "brass in the face" issues and
a few stove-pipes also. After this continued after a few
hundred rounds I installed a new WOLF extractor. Now
it sends the brass away from me and into the next county!
The few stove-pipe problems I had have disappeared.

I have not been a Gen 4 fan at all. I recently had an extra Gen 4 Glock 21 come in and it felt great in the hand. So, I took it to the range with 500 rounds. 2 hours later the ammo was gone and I did not have one single issue. I also found this to be more accurate than my Gen 3 21. I was putting 13 rounds into the size of a quarter at 25 feet with little effort. Needless to say, I love it and am glad I took it for a spin.

G19 all is perfect since the first day I loaded it and shot it. I was kinda worried if I was going to get one with the ejector problems or not but glad I got lucky almost 1k rounds and no problems.

I have noticed that the barrel/slide/frame fit on my gen4 19 is much tighter compared to my gen3 19.

I don't know if it just my pistols or if Glock is building them tighter.
