Not just gen4 but also previous generations. Glocks have always been thin in that area. Some frames show the metal, some don't.

Call glock and they will tell you the same thing. Normal. Does not affect the function of the pistol in anyway.

G26 1500+ rounds
G19 600 rounds

Zero issues and both are tac drivers, and that's with WWB & Federal Champion.

Glock 19, fired case dated 02/18/12, so it's a fresh one. It came with 30274 ejector and 0-4-3 RSA installed.

My impressions of the Glock 19 Gen 4 so far as compared to my Gen 3s (G19, G26, G30SF):

Pros:
  • As reliable as my G19 Gen 3 (so far....), which was key for me.
  • No issues with feeding or ejecting in 250 rounds, out of the box
  • No erratic ejection. I did get one ejected case to the top of my head out of 250, but that was honestly due to me flexing my elbows during the shot. The same things happens to me with all my guns occasionally, including a few high-end 1911s.
  • I really like the new grip shape (no extensions) and grip texturing
  • The slide finish is a nice deep black, somewhat shiny. More similar to the Gen 3s I've seen than many of the Gen 4s I've seen, which have a flatter, almost brown-tinted finish.

Cons:
  • The gun felt very stiff overall out of the box, much stiffer and less smooth than other new Glocks I've purchased in the past.
  • The trigger pull is noticeably heavier than my Gen 3s. Almost like it has an NY-1 installed (it doesn't). My Gen 3 also had a lousy trigger, but not quite this heavy.
  • The muzzle jump is noticeably reduced by the double spring RSA, but the recoil feels somewhat sharper than my Gen 3 G19. My Gen 3 G30SF also uses a double spring, but the recoil is softer (relative to the caliber), and the slide on the G30SF is noticeably easier to pull back. My hope is that this is part of the overall stiffness in feel of the new gun, and will loosen up with shooting. In fairness, my Gen 3 G30SF and G19 each have over 2,000 rounds through them, so it's not a direct comparison. I'm going by memory, with a more critical than usual perspective.

Too soon to tell on accuracy. I was just running ammo through it to break it in, paying attention to feel and recoil. Accuracy was roughly comparable to my Gen 3 G19. I don't shoot my G19 (Gen 3 or 4) nearly as well as my G30SF, it's a sweetie.

Maybe I got lucky, or maybe Glock has gotten the issues worked out of the Gen 4 G19s by this point.

With only 67rounds with it. Is this chipping of frame normal and should i expect it to chip more?

Relax. that is NORMAL. It is simply a mould flashing void. Nothing to worry about. Tens of thousands of Glocks have the same.

G19 test fire of September 2011.

043 spring

Durring the first 1200 rounds I had 3 stove pipes, as well as brass to the face, brass to the left, and everywhere else as well.

Sent it to glock in late december for the new ejector.

Have put over 1300 more rounds through it since then, with no issues. Brass going where it should go. Been using mostly wwb, but have also put a few federal champion rods through it, and a couple hundred lawman.

I have complete faith in the gun now. Love it. As long as it has the new ejector, there is no reason to hesitate buying one now.

Glock 26 Gen 4

I purchased my Glock 26 gen 4 about 6 weeks ago. No Problems whatever. I have shot 100 american eagle 115gr through it and it threw the brass to the right fairly strong. I then tried a box of Remington 115gr, and they seem to be somewhat under powered, they all shot well, but didn't eject them as strong as the american eagle.
Happy Glock owner,
Marcus

Bought a G-19 several months ago, it had the 043 spring in it. had the ejection problems. I talked with a glock armorer after replacing the ejector. did a complete take down. Went to the range shot and ejected perfect, after 50 rounds. My advice is be patient and know or try to know everything about your Glock. Frank

Just became part of the gen 4 party...

Gen 4 G19. Test fire 2/14/2012.

430 rds, right from the box. No stoppages or failures.

2 casings to the head.

Not real concerned about the casings to the head. I think it is a fatigue issue.

Another 150 rounds

Put another 150 rounds thru my G19 Gen 4 with a "factory" threaded barrel". Still no FTF, FTE or brass in the face, head or had or on my left side. Must be the Glock threaded barrel or my "bunny fart" reloads. I've never fired factory ammo thru this gun, about 1200 reloads so far.

g19 gen4 test fire date 2/24/2012. started with about 60 rounds of speer lawman 124gr fmj, then assorted ammo (winchester white box, federal champion and tulammo). ejector and recoil spring are the newer parts.

first time at the range today and started getting ejections to the head and to my left about half hour into my session, and seemed to get worse towards the end of the hour. a few of the casings to the head actually left black powder marks on my forehead.

at the time it didn't really bother me, and it still doesn't for the most part. but i'll probably try the tips from nowlin on my extractor to see if that helps any. other than the ejection problem, the g19 gen4 performed flawlessly.

Going to put 400 more rounds down range today. That will total 1000 rounds through the 19 since last week. I do not expect any issues, will report back.
