So for the past 2 years and ever since I got my Glock 21 I've been yearning for a big ol' Gen3 10mm. It's been an epic battle of should I vs shouldn't I... Ammo is too expensive for it to be a range blaster... I'm not going to carry it... It's totally unnecessary... I'm not hunting rabid bears...
I've always watched the classifieds on a few forums, keeping an eye out for a good deal. That was the only way I could justify getting one. Alas, no dice. $500+ for this, $500+ for that... whatever, I'll just tuck this impulsive dream away and keep one eye open for something to come along. Well today at my favorite gunshop, it did. In the used case, I saw this new-looking Gen3. I ask to fondle it, I asked to feild strip it. Two things caught my eye; 1) How new it looked on the outside, and 2) how cheap it was. It had all the tupperware, manual, 2 mags, rod and brush, speedloader, and a test-fire date of 06/26/08. Now this particular LGS has the best prices around on new guns (hence why I buy 90% of them there) but I'd never really noticed their used stuff. The tag on it was $429. I took it apart and noticed something remarkable... the gun's innards still had a good portion of the copper lube from the factory! In addition, it was clean to the point where it didnt look like it was cleaned, and judging by the typical points of wear, I can't see it having been fired more than 50 rounds.
Needless to say, it followed me home.

I grabbed a 50-round box of Blazer 200gr and proceeded to pack my range bag with a couple other guns, run a dry patch thru the new-to-me blaster, and lubed it ever-so-sparingly with some Slip2000.
50 rounds... yeah, I wish there was an extra zero. Time to start saving brass and looking into bench setups...
Now where are those rabid bears...
