Soon to be SiG owner!

I recently placed a sig P229 E2 9MM in layaway and hope to have it out next month. I just got issued a Sig at work (P226) and decided to go ahead and get one after shooting it a bit. Looked around and this seemed the best bang for my buck. A lightly used one (supposedly only 1 mag through it and it's looks back that up) with 3 15 round mags, box papers etc. for 800 OTD. A little higher than some of the more used ones but it's my local dealer who worked with me on several others so I pulled the trigger.

I'm new to sigs, the ones at work are well worn, so what issues, if any, are prevalent with Sig's and this one in particular do I need to be on the look for. Are there any common enhancements such as trigger parts etc? I don't know just yet what I want to do with it just want to do my homework beforehand.

It'll probably not replace my G29 for edc as I love 10MM but it might make it with me on occasion and I don't have a 9MM yet so it's the first 9 and Sig. Will post pics as soon as I get it so I'm jumping on the OT to get it out ASAP and get shooting.

No major issues to point out. Just be sure to oil and grease where needed and enjoy. I had some trigger work to reduce the trigger pull but skipped the short reset trigger. You may or may not want either modification.

Enjoy!

I carried a sig p226 in Iraq and own a p229. These guns are refined. I have never had a prob with a sig. A couple upgrades if the gun didnt have them would be the STR or short trigger reset and sigs action job. Sigs custom shop will work a deal with you if you order both services. That being said sigs are great guns out of the box and you shouldnt have any issues

OK dropped some more down on it and got some OT from work so theoretically should have it out next payday.

Mag question now. Are any other model Sig magazines interchangeable with my 229? I've seen some 20 round 226 that look interesting. What about the Mec Gar magazines are they as reliable as factory?

MecGar makes a few extension floor plates for P229 but they get twitchy after the two rounder in my experience (add on type: Plus Two). Just buy the larger capacity mags if you can find them.
