G33 or G27 for ccw
I now carry a G19 gen 3 and shoot 2-3 times a month 150 rds each visit. love my 19 but looking for a smaller more potent pistol, glock of course. I had a G27 Gen 3 and liked it but just looking at a G33 and never shot one. Any feedback on the G33 for CCW besides the ammo expense vs G27?

No complaints about mine. Shoots nice and carries better. Get yourself a 27 barrel if you get the 33 so practice isn't so expensive. IMO the .357sig shoots better than the .40s&w.

+1 on that.
I've got a Talo EXO G27 and factory G33 barrel/mags too.
Don't choose just one.
Choose both! LOL

Since you already have experience with the 27 get that first. You can always get the 33 barrel later on. With that said the 357 sig round is my favorite.

I have both, and carry both as part of the CCW rotation, although I do favor the G27.
If you reload, you can also use the .355" bullets for both 9X19 and .357SIG. If you don't reload, then picking up the .40S&W barrel as the others mentioned will let you shoot the less expensive ammo.
The .357 is a nice round and I'm sure you'll like it if you go that route.

G27.
Ammo is just plain ol' easier to find, whether range ammo or SD. The .40S&W is a decent SD round in that little package. Then drop in a G33 barrel for .357 fun. Bam! Problem solved.

.357 Sig would look cool on the slide.
And it has the most stopping power, shot out of short barreled guns.
More than a .45, .40, or 9mm,.38 etc.
But, with the G27 you can shoot cheaper & plentiful .40's right out of the box.
Then ofcourse get the .357 Sig & 9mm barrels later.

357 Sig produces comparable KE with less recoil than the 40
357 sig has more blast.
G33 Ranger T 125 gr. @ 1,280 fps / 454# KE / PF 160
G33 Gold Dot 125 gr. @ 1,315 fps / 480# KE / PF 164
G27 Ranger T 165 gr. @ 1,116 fps / 456# KE / PF 184
G27 Gold Dot 155 gr. @ 1,134 fps / 442# KE / PF 175

G27
The. 40 is a very versitile round.. 135gr uber fast, up to heavy 180 gr slow and heavy.. with many choices in between.. it is just a 10 mm in a shorter case w less power and less recoil however with tremendous ballistic characteristics.
IMO the 357 sig is more expensive and very loud which isn't desire able at all in an indoor SD shhot. The round also excels at long distance shooting and barrier penetration which is also somewhat antithetical to civilian self defense.
If you're looking to be more "unique " at the local range than go with the 357... if your looking to shoot for less $$ , better ammo availability, versatile load weights, lots of power, and only a "moderately deafening " report vs a "completely deafening " report, than go .40 sw

Not knocking the .357Sig round, but I found that it was more blast and snap than I wanted in that compact package. It's a real handfull.
So my G27 is my EDC. JMHO...YMMV.

i dont like 357 sig for personal protection, small, fast bullet = over penetration....i dont want to be going through what i am trying to stop, and run the risk of that bullet hitting something else....

I vote for the G33, to me the recoil is easier to manage and I like the ballistics.

I carry a G27 gen4. I like the 40 cal. My decision was not 9MM vs 40, BUT, whether to go .40 or 45 cal. I decided on the .40 cal. For me, the little G27 is not to snappy and points well. I've only shot about 300 rounds in mine and it is not my typical range gun. I guess I'm more of a larger caliber believer in that except for my 380 all other sidearms are 40, 44 and 45.

Yep, and the 135gr. Corbon PowRball's should perform like a .357 Sig.

Glock 27 just for the simple fact that the Glock 33 is not available in Gen 4 yet. Nuff said.
Hear that Glock? You really need to step up your game.

G27. With G22/G23 being the industry LE standards, .40 will remain popular & plentiful.

Thanks all for your great feedback and replies!! I'm leaning to the G33,I can get ammo no prob. It will be CCW and 19 for the range. But I really shot my old 27 well and parted with it awhlie back,so it may come into play once again. Nothing like the wind in your face said the biker to his dog!! I always wanted a .357 sig,my son would love it when I pass my glocks to him. he swears by his G23. I heard that the texas rangers swapped out their .45's for the 357sig. their spokesperson stated that a hit with the .357Sig rd puts em down for good

357 sig is also used by the Department of Transportation Troopers here in Texas. They use the P229/226...
