Is this normal?

Got this Sig P226 and while cleaning it I noticed that the part of the slide opposite of the extractor side is a bit worn. I haven't shot it yet but snap caps seat firmly and eject as normal snap caps do. I just never seen this part worn on any other guns I owned. If you have seen this on your Sig please let me know.

Not sure what wear you're referring to without specific identification references like this for example.

Anyway, are you dropping the slide on a chambered round?

No I'm not dropping the slide on a empty chamber, it was like this when I received it from a guy online. I'm going to call Sig to see if they'll fix it for free. If not then I'm just gonna take a hit and trade it in at a LGS.

For a basis of comparison, here is my old 226ST with 20k on the clock.

P220ST with 6k

If you are not he original registered owner, Sig will not entertain free repair of replacement.

How about just buying a new slide from Sig? Do you think they will do that? The new Sig P226 tac ops slide is the same as my Blackwater slide.

I'm thinking about picking up another Sig. One for cold winter carry. I was thinking heavy bigger caliber like .45 acp.

Do you have any experiences with the Sig P220 carry? Is there a better DA/SA Sig's for concealed carry during the colder months?

I don't have a 220 carry. I carry either my 229ST or 239.

The 226ST is my range, training weapon.

The 220ST full size is one of our HD weapons.

Left to right: 220ST - 229ST - 226ST

Front to back:

232SL - 239TT - 229ST - 226ST - 220ST

I find my older stamped, folded and pinned steel slide P220 nearly as easy to carry and feels better in the hand than my P245 (similar to the P220 Compact)...I can't imagine there is much benefit to the P220 Carry (shorter barrel, same frame as full size, right?)...and the P220s should be much easier to find...
