40S&W ammo choices.

Just looking on one of the discount ammo sites and man, there's a ton of choices for 40S&W ammo. I'm going to try and stick with a 165gr since I think that's the best "middle" ground between the lighter 135 and 155gr and the heavier 180gr stuff. Here's a few choices I've bookmarked for a possible future order.(the 125gr stuff seems like it'd be good for home defense.)

For the most part the prices don't seem to be too outrageous, a bit more then 9x19mm but not as much as 45acp which makes sense.
If any of ya'll have knowledge of any of the listed ammo let me know how you liked it OR if you've got a source for decent quality 40S&W at a good price please post a link.

This reminds me of the time in 5th grade when I finally broke down and ate the apple crisp. I avoided it all thru my school years because it looked like something a dog had thrown up, well, a friend of mine finally talked me into trying it and man, that was some great stuff. If I'd had known what I'd been missing all those years I'd have tried it sooner. Seems like the same deal with the 40S&W, now that I've got a gun that'll handle the "snap" I can indulge in all this great 40cal ammo.

Ok, maybe this thread needs to be moved to "Caliber Corner" or something.

If you shoot USPSA, the Fiocchi 40SWF makes major power factor w/out a lot of extra.

I've noticed that Fiocchi has always been loaded " full power", especially their 9x19mm and 32acp stuff. Some folks say it shoots dirty but I've not found that to be true, seems to shoot as clean as anything else on the market, especially if you compare it to Wolff or Tula stuff.
I think that 125gr frangible load looks interesting for Home Defense. It's be great where over penetration may be a factor and I'd bet it'd cut recoil down to about zero out of a full size gun.
I did pick up a box of WWB 165gr FMJ at Wal-Mart but that was $34 bucks plus tax so it came to just under $37.50 for 100 rounds and I don't think it's all that good anymore, seems they've made it a lot cheaper in quality over the last few years.

I may try finding some Federal "Hi-Shok"(not the same as Hydra-Shok) 155gr stuff for HD/CCW. It's running $19.95/50rnds on the web site I posted the links to above and should work well enough, at least for $3 bucks more I'd be getting an HP instead of just a FMJ.

100 round value packs of Federal Champion .40s&w are now available at Walmart for $26. Best value on brass cased .40's I've seen.

My local Wal-Mart didn't have any in stock. Just that crappy WWB stuff.

How much is your life worth? If you had to use you gun in an actual defensive situation, I would not be thinking about the $3 I saved buying brand X. Buy the best CCW ammo you can, HST, GD, T's, GS, or even the old Hydra-shok, and anything you can find to practice with. 165 GS's are pretty inexpensive and it has a good reputation.
