Speer Gold Dot
Has anyone noticed it's cheaper to buy Speer Gold Dot in 50 rounds boxes, versus 20 rounds boxes marked "Personal Protection"? Is there any difference in the rounds?

versus a box of 20 at my gun store marked $25

Never buy 20 round boxes if available in 50. You're basically paying almost double.
sgammo is my fave. They don't have some stuff I look for but the stuff they do have that I want is priced right.

I couldn't wait, I wanted some 9mm ammo for my new g19 so I purchased a box of 20 Gold dot 124gr HP's from my LGS for $30.02 after tax!!!!! That Is the definition of a rip off! All the ammo I will buy for it from now on will be from the internet or boxes of 50, muuuuuuch cheaper. I love sgammo.com, great prices on just about all ammo. No more boxes of 20 for me. smitty704

You're not alone, my friend.
The first "premium" self-defense ammo I bought was a true rip-off, an underpowered hyped recommendation from a gun shop employee. It was okay range ammo in 20-something rounds but nothing more.
At least you got authentic Speer Gold Dot ammo for your money; I got far less.

Yup! I paid $45 for a box of old Hydrashoks at a gun show, when I was a noob. That's almost double what it would cost online. I didn't know any better. But, I do now! I buy some FMJ range ammo at Walmart on occasion. But, I've stocked up on premium SD ammo almost exclusively online. Just took delivery of 1,000 rounds (.45 Ranger T and 5.7-mm) this week from SGammo.com. I've also spent a fair bit of money with AmmunitionToGo.com.

I didn't know such a thing existed. I've never seen that. And it's short barrel? Can you post a pic? I gotta see this.
How long have you had them? Where did you get them? Current availability?

They have "short barrel" ammo for various calibers:

To recap: Somebody said they would never buy 20 round boxes. I said unless it was something like .38spl or .357. Somebody else said they had 50 round .38 spl boxes. I asked to see them. You then posted...a 20 round box of .38.
I want to see a 50 round box of short barrel gold dot in .38spl

I have seen them, but they are not common as they are for backup guns & not all PD's buy backup ammo for their depts.
Just to make you cry, I ordered some 50 rd. boxes of HST today for $19.99 a box.

I don't think there are any. Darn things are hard enough to get in 20 round boxes. Never seen the 50 round box.

Yeah yeah. I wish I could get Ranger from Streichers. Freaking RA9T for like $18 a box.
Then again $22-$25 for 50 rounds of the good stuff really isn't a bad deal at all
