If I have an extra G21 laying around - do I only need a G20 stock
Slide and barrel +magazine to convert it to a 10mm?

KKM makes a conversion barrel for your 21 slide. All else that is needed is a G20 mag, and 10 MM ammo, to be up and running with a 10.

The 10mm will take down a whitetail at distance easy. I put down A huge doe at about 40 yards with my G20 loaded with 180 grain Buffalo Bore gold dots! With that load that gun is an absolute sledgehammer!! I wish I wouldn't have sold mine. I will get another one day!

What 45 ammo did that guy use to put down the second to last deer? It stopped it stone cold!

What's the explanation of longer barrel, higher velocity? Thanks for the vid, makes me proud to own a G21SF...now I need a G20SF. Hahaha.

i think in most places 6" is the minimum barrel length to legally hunt

My neighibor has an annoying dog that barks to damn much, I don't value his bark, but I do point out that it is annoying from time to time.

To the poster who stated 6 inch barrels for most states... I do believe it is 5 inches, not 6.
In Ohio the rules state 5 inch barrel, so as to allow a full sized 1911 in .45 ACP.
Seeing as most states allow the use of the .45 ACP to harvest deer... it stands to reason that most of the states that allow .45 ACP to hunt deer will allow a 5 inch barrel because the 1911 is the most popular platform for the .45 ACP. Then again, out side of Ohio, this is just a guess. I would like for other members to sound off so we might know for sure.

Great videos. While I was there I watched a girl pig hunting with a Taurus 40S&W caliber. 12 shots she hit him with and he was down but still moving. I think I'd be switching to a 10mm or 45 real quick.

Would a 45 kill a deer? Yes. Would I use it? No. Truth is I mostly use my bow nowdays.

I think if you're using a bow for hunting deer, you should be okay with using a .45 acp.

Ohio opening day, is always the Monday after Thanksgiving. Can't use a firearm till then. Hopefully, this year isn't like last year. Rained for three days straight. Too old to hunt soaking wet!

I'd love it a lot more if it came with at least a 5" barrel. Had to buy the LW tactical length to achieve the 5" minimum requirement for here in Ohio

As a police officer in New England I've shot several deer with my duty sidearm. First a Beretta 92f and currently a G19. I have also seen sevaral other deer shot with the same weapons. The loads used were Winchester Black Talon 147gr and Winchester Ranger 127gr +P+. In all cases the deer died quick enough to call it effective. As some mentioned, tatics were used to get as close as possible, usually 25 yards on average before taking the shot. Deer are not tough skinned animals.
One of the deer's I shot with the 147gr load ran out of a backyard, across the street into another backyard where it expired. The round entered broadside and passed through the lower part of the heart.
These were all humane kills where the deer had been injured beyond repair but still able to hobble around with broken bones, infection, etc.
I have a friend who lives in Tennessee. He hunts with a 10mm. His BBQ is always full. My point being: A 10mm is plenty enough for hunting deer.
