I don't know, there were a few on the 10 mm where you saw the bullet go right through, you could see it hit behind. I don't see the "clear" win for the 10 mm. I still see shot placement as the "win". Even with high power rifles and arrows, game still has to be tracked sometimes.

Actually the increase in velosity begins to drop off after 6 inches. Check out this site: http://www.ballisticsbytheinch.com/10mm.html

Who here would use a .45acp to hunt deer or hogs?

I would not. However back during the great depression...the 1930s one, my grandfather routinely killed deer with a .22lr.

Would a 45 kill a deer? Yes. Would I use it? No. Truth is I mostly use my bow nowdays.

If I were hungry enough I would hunt with anything I could get my hands on. If the American Indians were able to hunt successfully with little flint arrowheads I think a .45 or 10mm would be a better choice.

If anyone is interested in a way to convert their G21 or G21sf, I have a complete G20 Slide Assembly with Night Sights and an optional magazine listed in the Classifieds section: http://glocktalk.com/classifieds/sho...&ppuser=179998

The finish in like new condition and the barrel has a super low round count

I'm selling it to help pay for my long slide project - http://glocktalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1373260

Thanks

10mm ges the job done

I took my Glock 20 with the (Glock) six inch hunting barrel deer hunting for two years with Cor-Bon 180 grain bonded soft points. First year, nada. Second year - I was at table top mountain in Arizona with a buch of (well, lets call them unenlightened) people. I kept getting harrassed about "handgun" hunting, even though you CAN'T find a handgun with more rounds that has the same energy level of the 10mm. So, long story short, I'm slinking around the hills looking at the south end of a North bound buck. Keeps messing with me, letting me get within about 150 yards. I told myself I WOULD NOT shoot anything further than 100 yards with the Glock. Last day of the season, I kid you not - same buck walked within 50 yards of camp as I'm getting dressed for hunting - I KNOW it was him tasking me. Same game, I stalk, he moves. Finally, I give up and start packing it all in, drive down the mountain (focus on driving as I will fall off the mountain and kill myself). So, I come around the mountain onto (finally) flat dirt (no road) and can breath again when, this buck runs over from somewhere and stops about 20 yards in front of my truck. Needless to say, out comes the Glock, (get out of truck first) ease it out, get a bead on his front chest and BAM! Some other gun with a rifle has shot him. Guy says he never saw my truck or me taking a bead on him. Maybe. Anyway, bet you thought I was going to end up shooting that buck didn't you? True story. If it wasn't, I would have ended up shooting that buck with the 10mm. Oh well, there's always pig season.

If I have an extra G21 laying around - do I only need a G20 stock
Slide and barrel +magazine to convert it to a 10mm?

KKM makes a conversion barrel for your 21 slide. All else that is needed is a G20 mag, and 10 MM ammo, to be up and running with a 10.

The 10mm will take down a whitetail at distance easy. I put down A huge doe at about 40 yards with my G20 loaded with 180 grain Buffalo Bore gold dots! With that load that gun is an absolute sledgehammer!! I wish I wouldn't have sold mine. I will get another one day!
