Question about Slide Stops

I have noticed some slide stops are listed as 45acp and some as 9mm/38super. That leads me to believe there two different sizes. Are they not interchangeable or is it just some company's mark there 45 slide stop and 9mm/38super slide stop separately due to design.

I don't beleive a 45 will work well on a 9mm .I know STI makes one that works on both calibers . Basically a 9mm that has to have the stop tab filed down a bit to work properly with a 45.

They are different.

The tip is a bit longer on the 9mm/.38 super because most magazines for those two rounds have a follower that is narrower than those in a .45 magazine. The longer tip on the slide stop ensures good contact with the follower.
