29SF or 30SF ??

OK Guys... most of my pistols are .45ACP, convince me why I should go with the 29SF over the 30SF.

That's easy . . . It's 10mm Auto!

But seriously, a 10mm still has more power at 100 yards than a .45ACP has at the muzzle.

This^^^

Easy to reload; many choices of .40 projectiles

G29s will accept 15 round G20 mags. More if you add the extensions.

You can switch barrels (same mags) and run .40/.357SIG/9X25

A 10MM round will penetrate much better than .45 auto.

Go with the G29. The 10mm auto is far more versatile. 120 to 230 grain projectiles. You can run loads that vastly exceed the performance of a 45 auto. Or for reduced recoil plinking, you can download to 45 auto energies or lower.

Higher round count, higher velocity, higher energy, flatter trajectory, and while shooting puts a smile on your face like you've never experienced while shooting 45 Auto. Not to mention what everyone else brought up.

Plus, listening really close in otherwise dead silence, I believe I can barely make out a G29SF calling your name.....and wait.....I believe it's OD Green! But I digress. And why the heck not?

Can anybody guess which factory 10mm load is chambered in the pic above?

Congrats! I'm still searching for my G29SF. They've been out of them around here for months.

variety is the spice of life...

You can't go wrong with either one, they are built on the same frame so if you wanted to, you could switch calibers 10mm to .45 with a slide, barrel and magazine. Also there are conversion barrels for G29 to .40S&W, and G29 to .357 sig -can't do that with the G30

So, I'm too late to save you?
I guess you'll just have to buy some 10mm ammo now and see if you can keep from getting totally addicted.
If you reload, you can load it hot or load it mild. You can use heavy bullets (200 gr)or light bullets (135 gr). You've got the whole Goldilocks thing going here and hopefully, you can find a load that is just right for you.

Fedor,

Does that price include the FFL transfer? Or was the "instant quote" price. It's looking the same if I were to have one shipped to Austin.

I haven't dealt with GoG before, so I'm not really sure what the process would be.

I can see an option to "accept quote" at which time I'd have to put up about $145 for a deposit or sorts, then pay the balance at a local gun shop (there were three listed for my zip code.)

Thanks for any information about the transaction. If it doesn't seem too complex, and aren't too many other hidden fees or taxes, then I'll have to say that this would be bad for my budget

My dealer charges that price + sales tax, no other charges.

That was gonna be my guess, too. It's must be a Silvertip since he said factory. That deep hole in the center only comes with Silvertips and I think Golden Sabers. But I don't see gold!

Thanks, Fedor! The FFL dealer has already contacted me and has provided hours/directions/fees.

Oh boy...wasn't expecting to make a decision about 10mm this soon. I've been reading up about the different reloading setups that people have been using for this particular load, and right now I think it'll be the Dillon XL650 that wins the spot on the bench.

Appreciate the feedback, and I'll keep you posted on how the transaction goes.
