questions for those in NJ
I kind of think this is a non issue but I have a buddy who lives in NJ. He mentioned that its basically impossible to get a carry permit in NJ ... is that accurate?

Yes accurate info. Everytime you want to buy a handgun in NJ you need a permit. You can only buy 1 gun a month, and a permit takes at least 30days to get. Some have waited over 60 days for our local police to do a backgroung check and type it up. I went down to Florida on business and got a Florida CWL in 12 days. NJ is the worst. I can't wait to get out of here and down to Florida.

Heard Chris Christie on the radio the other day. He said he thought NJ has it right in terms of their gun laws. I'm glad he's decided he has a duty to the folks of NJ and won't be running for POTUS.

I am a Florida resident and still own a home in NJ. Talk about both ends of the spectrum! In FL, I feel safe and I can protect myself and my family while out and about. In NJ, I feel vulnerable as hell because it's IMPOSSIBLE for the law abiding, good citizens to get a carry permit.
Not only do you need a permit to buy a gun, you need an ID card to buy ammo! And that can take months to acquire. I won't even go to the range until I receive my ID card for fear of getting arrested!
Can't wait to get out of this state!

And if you actually do, you can't carry HP's. Yeah that makes sense.... Round goes through the target & into the kid across the street instead of staying in the target as HP's are designed to do.

I saw on the news today how our population here in NJ has gone down. I too bought property in Florida. We just put the seawall in. I hope to have a home built there in a few years. NJ is the worst place to live. No wonder people are leaving.

NJ is being sued over the impossibility to obtain a carry permit. The case is Muller v. Maenza and is being handled by VERY smart lawyers and SAF. It might have to go all the way to the Supreme Court but if it does it will be a win.

Wow! I just read the Muller v. Maenza complaint and it does sound promising. No doubt this case WILL HAVE TO go to SCOTUS if it is to be successful. NJ courts will NEVER overturn anti 2A laws.

Oh you can get one. You just have to be well connected politically to do so.

There have been a couple of posters on pafoa from NJ who have got a NJ ccw. They are a privileged few though.

The GOP good ol boys are still begging Christie to run not that Daniels is out. They are becoming more afraid of Cain every day.
It’s harder to get your car registered in NJ than it is to buy a handgun in Florida.
But at least you have low property taxes

By department policy, we didn't have that option. We were to be armed and have our credentials and badge with us at all times.

It is exactly this policy that has gotten a number of departments sued in the past.
It seems that guys have gone out to bars and proceeded to do stupid things....their defense.....I was REQUIRED to have the gun with me as a condition of my employment.
Many (if not most) departments have gotten away from this policy.
