Need help, what is the best aftermarket barrel for the 29?
I hear all types of barrels being mentioned in these forums but I don't know which one to go with. I am looking for an aftermarket barrel for a 29 still 10mm and stock length. Need input and opinions. Thanks in advance.

maybe best value for the buck would be lone wolf.
If you want top of the line go with bar-sto and tell them you want full case support with no feed ramp encroachment into the barrel.
I went with kkm because they had the extended length in stock.
That's what I wanted, so G2G.

Aftermarket Barrel
I just got my Storm Lake extended barrel. I cannot believe the accuracy. It does protrude from the slide about 1/2 inch. It works great. They also make stock length if thats your preference. I have also used Lone Wolf barrels with great success. The only reason i went over to a Storm Lake on this one is because i wanted an extended length and Lone Wolf doesn't make one.

They all get good reports. If Lone Wolf, KKM or Storm Lake put out a 6" for the G29, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Yea,, now I need a different barrel for my new 29SF..I watched Hic-Cocks (sp?) 10 mil videos and want to shoot those 230 gr hardcasts...They were impressive..
Only reason I got a 29 is for a lightweight woods gun...I need the penetration for 4 legged preditors and shooting lead calls for a barrel change...
Ahh bummer...

Might skip the aftermarket G29 barrel and shoot Corbon....They have some solid rounds that look promising....

If you don't mind the barrel sticking out of the slide 1/2" get the Storm Lake 4.48" extended barrel. To my knowledge it is the longest barrel for the G29 in production. Apparently KKM makes one but it's not on their web site but you can call them to order. IIRC it's a little shorter than the Storm Lake. Either of these barrels give you three things:
1. Similar ballistics to a G20 4.6" barrel
2. The ability to shoot full power loads without worry.
3. You can shoot reloads
I put my stock barrel away and I will us the Storm Lake barrel full time. It has no effect on concealed carry either.
Plus it looks bad ass!

No. The longest they will make for the G29 is 4.5".
See my recent post here (I actullay wrote to them to ask):

I was confused because a previous post said they would make anything up to 6" and did not specify which Glock.
I have Storm Lake 4.48".

I don't know where you obtained this info. I would like a 6" on a G29, please let me know who you spoke with.
I got this email:
Firemedic1343,
No problem, we can supply you with extended barrels at no extra cost. 20 up to 6.25 inches / 29 up to 4.75 inches
Thank you,
KKM

@ Firemedic -- it's too bad that they can't even get the reports of what G29 lengths they'll make to be consistant between what they told you and me... 4.5-4.75 is a good margin. That said, unless they (or anyone) will make a > 5.5" (min. legal length for hunting in WI) barrel for the G29, I'm not going to bother getting other barrel since I already have a stock-length Storm Lake.

Yeah, I don't understand the confusion. I think a larger barrel would be popular amongst those who would like to use the G29 as a hunting gun.
The only thing that would make me happier would be if Glock made a 10mm similar to the G34/35 platform. Maybe with a 6" barrel instead for the hunting crowd.

Sorry fellows.
I discussed the options with them for my 20 and they told me all barrels start as 6" blanks and they can cut to whatever length you want. I confused the options for the 20 barrels with the options for the 29. If you guys have contacted them per the 29, scratch what I typed.
Sorry 'bout that.

No problems. I confused a few numbers myself in the past, I'm on the fence for a G20 or G29, I really think the deal breaker for me is the lack of 6" barrel for the G29.

FireMedic343, why do you want the 6" barrel for the G-29, I shoot very well with my stock barrel 3.78" or either of my Storm Lake barrels of 10mm and 40S&W conversion.
These things are accurate considering their small size, 4" @ 40yards with my handloads. Practice and mastering the sight picture with your grip keeps you on target.
Best regards!

After market barrels provide full chamber support which is important when shooting hot ammo.Glock OEM barrels do not offer full support The longer barrels increase velocity as well.
Sorry about jumpin in Firemedic

What Swinokur said.
Additionally, I am looking for a woods gun, and the extra velocity could be handy depending on the size of the creature. As well as the fact that some creatures will charge you through brush that you may end up shooting through, so the velocity could help.
The full chamber support doesn't worry me too much with the G20, but with the G29 I'm still not sure since I have less experience with it than many folks here. The factory barrel is combat ready. But, if you're planning on shooting 200+gr loads, then you may have less issues(i.e. tumbling) with an aftermarket barrel. I think it was hickok that had a video of some tumbling and poor shots with a 230grain double tap in the stock. He switched out for an aftermarket barrel and he was shooting pretty.
But I will practice with whatever I get, that's good advice I definitely spend more money on ammo than tacticool stuff

While I'm not to whom you asked that, here's another reason:

That's one of the reasons why the 6.02 is popular, 6" is the minimum in many places.

I was going to keep my Glock 29 stock until I saw hickok45's video and came here looking for info on replacement barrels.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-m0sa...eature=related
Looks like 'rich e' came to the same conclusion after watching that video.
I use the G29 in the woods and for travel. And did not want to get fancy with it in case it fell in a river or was lost during an airplane flight.
Chamber support is not as good as the Bar-Sto barrel in my 10mm 1911, but is good enough. But, if my 200gr and 215gr hardcast bullets are going to miss the mark, the Glock 29 is useless for me for woods protection.
