Home Defense vs. Carry Ammo
Home Defense vs. Carry Ammo
I am a new CCW Licensee in Ohio, and new to this Forum also …
I do not know if I will actually “carry” outside of the home, but I have selected the Pow’R Ball ammo for my Glock 19 Gen4 as my Self-Defense round. For in home defense, I am very interested in the Glaser Safety Slug Silver Tip. I can’t find this ammo in any store near me – but get a mixed review from the salesman who doesn’t carry the ammo.
I’m also trying to identify what to use for home defense and carry for my Glock 22.
Your input and suggestions would be appreciated.

You should probably post in the caliber corner. I would go with any quality jacketed hollow point. I like remington golden sabre, but you can go with gold dot or winchester talons or anything really. Just make sure you run at least a box of your chosen ammo through your gun to make sure they fire perfectly.

Mossberg 500 pump shotgun with 3 inch 00 buckshot, just like we used in country on our Asian Vacation from President Johnson is great home defense. REMEMBER!

If you don't mind me asking, what was the purpose of obtaining the CCW if you just want your firearm at home...

IMHO, that ammo, both that you have mentioned are garbage.

I would get the hottest, most powerful JHP load (+P+ or whatever it's called), that I can find for both CCW and home protection. Why would you think that the bad guys are any less bad in one situation ~vs~ the other. I want to blast a hole clean thru anything I shoot. I even keep a little rust on my pocket knife in case I have to cut a bad guy and he is able to run away...I want him to get lock-jaw later. You know how I feel about power; "If some is good, more is better"!!!!!

I carry 9mm speer gold dot, 124gr.
I intentionally do not buy the +P version because I don't want a higher probability of it going all the way through.

CH-you're over analyzing this. Just get good quality JHPs for SD and HD. Practice with what you carry and find an FMJ that is similar for practice. If you want a shotgun, go get one like the KSG.

No magic bullets that won't penetrate drywall, but will drop a BD DRT.

I am currently loaded up with Golden sabres, because I've shot those. I have a pile of other contenders that I need to try out at the range, but for now I'm very confident in the abilities of the golden sabres.
