New to Glocks, need some advice about a Glock 34

I picked up a used Gen 3 Glock 34 at the gun show this weekend. This is my first Glock, but I've rented/borrowed quite a few over the years. They never seemed to fit me very well, but that's okay b/c this is mostly for my son.

I'm planning a defensive pistol class with him before he goes to Paris Island this summer. I'm hoping that in more time it will grow on me too. Who can't use another good reliable 9mm? Who knows, having this one may make a convert out of me.

I do have a couple of questions about this model and I'm hoping somebody can help me out. Was it supposed to have adjustable rear sights? Will a G17 barrel/slide fit in case I wanted to use it for CCW?

Most cases, the G34 is issued with an adjustable rear sight
The G17 barrel is too short to fit the G34 slide. A G17L barrel will fit because it is longer (6.02")
