The Charter Arms Bulldog 44 Special

Well I picked one up recently and I am very impressed with it.

Pretty good shooter for a big bore snub. I will be sure to check all screws for correct torque after each range session to see if any of my big loads are rattling it loose and probably do a long term review like I did for my LCR in the future.

I did a writeup on it if anyone is interested:

It is kind of growing on me, I think it will become my new woods gun. It certainly has enough penetration and power with the 240 grain loads, it is easy to shoot, and it is very lightweight.

I love my semi's but I have a place in my heart for revolvers and carry them more often than not.

It joins a small collection of revolvers I have:

I have one from probably over thirty years ago. Very nice little revolver. Mine has been very reliable even after quite a few hundred rounds having gone through it. Some time ago (+10 years ago) had to send it back to Charter Arms for a little light maintenance (it'd fire fine but my cylinder release latch was not working correctly). Otherwise, a great, small, big bore handgun.

Oh, I also have several boxes of Buffalo Bore's full-wadcutter round. I suspect it's the most effective projectile configuration for this caliber/barrel length handgun out there.

I put compact grips on mine. Slims the gun down at the cost of shooting comfort.

I had a Target Bulldog in the 1970s and early 1980s.
.44SPL in semiwadcutter is accurate as all heck.

Wish I still had that one.

I just got my low profile grips. Conceals much better and isn't that bad with recoil.

Brings it down to 18.9oz unloaded. 22.5oz loaded.

Another thanks! I have the same version with exposed hammer and it is much more accurate than I ever hoped for and is a perfect kick around the desert/mountain gun.
