I recently picked up a used G19 with a number engraved on the bottom of the trigger guard. Can I lightly sand this area smooth to remove the number with no adverse effects? Is there a better way? http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n...1004101556.jpg

It's hard to tell how deep it is from the picture, but it may be possible to sand it off. I would be very careful not to remove too much material and weaken the trigger guard. A better way would be to cover it with material as some companies doing Glock grip work use for their texturing / stippling. Then you would not have to worry about compramising the trigger guard.
