Red dot and mount under $200?
I have $200 to spend on a mount and dot for my G31 build with conversion barrel. I like the carver hunter mount but it would take most of my funds. Could I get a good red dot and mount for $200?

Lonewolf carries a very sturdy polymer mount called the Mako. I am impressed with the quality and it's reasonable $39.95 price. I just mounted it on a G19 with an old Tasco Propoint PDP5 (Beer Can) red dot scope and willplay with it tomorrow.

Does it have to be frame mounted? A Burris Fast Fire and mount might run around 200ish.

I see the weaver adapter for the fast fire at glock world, I could use it, and the mako. Is the fast fire decent? I know it wouldn't be top of the line.

I have a Burris Fast Fire in a LaRue Tactical mount and have been very pleased with it. Rugged and reliable, I find it to be the equal to my Eotech or the Aimpoint's I have used.

This is the set up I went with on my 17C. Very fast, bright dot. I got mine through Midway with a discount coupon. B&B has the whole set up for $339. They have a bunch of Carver stuff and packages. Its worth just cruising the sight to see the set ups.
The reason I didn't go with the Carver mounts is they recommend taking material off the slide so brass will clear. With the set up I have remove the back sight, put the new one on. Nothing to get in the way of the ejection port. Do remember to Locktite the screws in! After 300 rounds one screw came out! My mistake! All back together again. Hope to put 500 rounds threw it tonight!

The Burris I had came WITH the Weaver adapter installed. I had to order the Glock adapter piece.
If you are just starting, you could go FastFire and Mako to see if you like it.
