Glock 19 Gen 1

I have a Glock 19 that I bought new around 1987 or 1988. The serial starts with a BP. Is this a gen 1 or gen 2?

And those 12 were prototypes for testing, not for sale. The first G19 for sale was a Gen2.

Oh I see. I did not pay that much attention to my Glock 19 back then when I was in the military. It has not been fired that much. I just clean and oil it once in a while.

I got on the Glock bandwagon rather early - 1987, IIRC.

The guy I bought my Generation 1 17 from had a large shipment to sell back then, to include two or three generation 1 19s.

To be clear, I don't know the current status of these collector items or even the fine details of their production - but I do know they were available on the general market back then. They did not appear to be packaged any differently than a generation 1 17.

Rough edges on it look like it was cut down.

Yes, it was unfired in perfect condition. A Hollywood celebrity bought it. I watched it happen so I know it is a fact. I was given a 10% finders fee and had to sign a hush agreement. It was pretty sweet.

Yes, that is true, you either are a Gaston family member or worked on the prototype to be lucky enough to get one. They were sold to the public by the original owners.
