870 barrel clamps & mag tubes
I'm waiting on a mag tube extension for my 870. I do not have a barrel clamp of any kind yet, and I was wondering if I could use something like this eBay part:
LINK HERE
The biggest consideration, I'm almost certain, is the measurement of the gap between the barrel and the extension. The last thing I want to do is install something like this & bend the barrel or screw up the mag tube, and I'd rather not have a clamp and one of these... seems redundant. Has anyone used a part like this? I'm not looking to add a ton of tacticool gear, maybe just a flashlight.

I believe, Max 100 recommends Nordic clamps.

Ah ha... I see. I like it; but it's pricey, at $45:

The part pictured is for a flashlight to be aatached to the barrel. It isn't a barrel clamp.

Depends on which tube extension you are getting. The Remington kits come with one. The Wilson and Vang Comp don't need one. So, what you are getting determines if you even need one.

I'm getting a parkerized +3 from Max100 (GunConnect). I'd like one, whether or not I need it. For a small & light piece, it seems like a good idea, structurally.

The CDM mag tube clamps are lighter weight and little less costly than the Nordic clamps. They are both high quality clamps. My tube extensions have a 1" OD.

I talked to Scott (CDM) last week and he said the clamps will be ready in a week or two. I just sent him a MO.

Is that why you're selling your UTG part?
