Made a new swinger for our indoor range

First, here's a very short clip:

Our tuesday night IDPA match has moved to a new facility (old one kicked us out) and we don't have any moving targets here. Since we got enough snow to result in me being off work for the day, I spent about two hours in the garage.

The pivot/bearing is a drive belt idler pulley off of a Toyota 4.0L V6 (the motor in the new Tacomas):

The stake pockets are armored against being shot by 1/8" angle iron:

And the clamping screws (3/8" all-thread) are mounted in the back:

One more from behind:

If you're wondering, the oddly-shaped weight is two pieces of 1/4" plate welded together. They're the drop out (scrap center) from a weld-on beadlock wheel set. Which look like this, and were free:

Finally made a center-hinged prop for it too. These release more easily, and are very consistent:

I had to add rubber feet to keep it from walking across the floor, too. Just something to think about if you're going to build one.

Truck is gone.

The bearing got armored before we shot it tonight. As Philip knows, it worked great.

Swingers suck. Excellent for indoor range use, too, as we can't really use steel to activate a target... and swingers don't disappear for a very long time.
