Got something that is going to be hard to live with

Well, today I am going to have to start on something that has been a long time coming.

I have been too heavy for a long time and lately my body has been suffering for it. Been having some issues with pain in my feet that won't go away, numbness in my face and ears when I turn my head. I have always had back trouble too.

Well, it seems I am going to have to be confined to a wheel chair for sometime, I don't know how long.... may be a long time. Not sure how I am going to deal with this.......

Sorry to hear that Bullman. I hope your physician gets to a clear diagnosis and a plan to guide you to full recovery.

My wife and I are working to lose weight and get back in shape after several failed attempts.

I'm told the trick is to find the right form of exercise that you enjoy (that's a challenge!!!) and to eat clean foods (also a big challenge).

Remember it took a long time to gain the extra weight, little by little each day, it will take the same daily, long term commitment to lose it.

Wishing you the best in getting better, and finding the right course of action. Keep in mind you can and will make progress! It's worth the work!!! There is a great big world out there, it's a shame not to experience it (whatever that means to you as an individual)… family, nature, traveling to new places, hearing live music, seeing great works of art, architecture…

Don't lose hope and make sure to find that spark that keep you motivated! And remember there is nothing wrong with a second or third opinion, Dr's can be wrong or have a bad day too.

All the best!

I don't know the specifics or if you have some possible surgery in the future, but anything you can do to maintain a physical therapy program that caters to your abilities and comfort level is going to be the game-changer.
My pop had back surgery recently and he's a bit heavy, running into issues with drop foot and other nerve related problems that confine him to the walker. He's in a race between healing and gaining strength, and aging. He's not sticking to the PT and aging is going to win.
Don't cheat yourself, even the smallest efforts will bring you closer to mobility if you consistently try, even if all you have is used up.
I wish you all the success in the World..... beat this!!

Great advice.

Stay active and push yourself.

Mom ended up with drop foot and has been confined to a bed/wheelchair since '07.

DO NOT give up on yourself buddy, keep active and push through the pain to remain independent.

Best wishes to you.

I wrestle with my weight, but I'm lucky enough to be able to get a lot of walking in. Right now, that's my favorite form of exercise. Before I had my hips replaced, I tried a little water aerobics which was good because I was heavy and the water supported me enough to let me exercise. Pick the brains of every doctor you work with and see what kind of routine they can come up with.

My new "wheelchair"

I hope it cures what ails me. You may now curse me at your leisure.

I don't have a bike helmet either, but I do have some motorcycle helmets from back in the day. Would I look too dorky?
